Like, when i play back i got the final "mix" channel to the point where it just about peaks. When i "update master" and mixdown to audio file im able to put it onto a cd. At that point trying to get it into itunes is a bit easier... but i would love to know where to pick up a free mp3/wav converter. 2 step shopping. problem is the mixed trax or the master... either/or are pretty quiet. And no worries about being an ass... we all bought this equipment to record our own stuff, and we all have ego problems. Hence why we wanna record our music and force it on our friends.

Lol, first of all, what you might want to do (besides trying to post an audio clip for us to actually hear things) is do the following.

1) forget about getting to a point where you might be clipping.
2) try to roughly mix into -3 or -6 dB.
3) strip all processing you have on the master bus
4) make sure you get it to sound like you want it to in the song (nevermind it being a bit quiet, it's always easy to make things louder).
5) post the track on soundcloud or something and let other give feedback on your mix.
6) do something with that feedback (and still, don't mind the actual volume).
7) re-post the track, get feedback
when you have the mix like you want it to be, then think about mastering...

Any sites you recommend to get feedback? I find it hard to find forums that are very active (with participants that are actually knowledgeable/helpful). I've tried here (but the Listen to This and Made in Studio One forums are very very dead)... Ive also tried homerecording.com and recordingreview.com. Any other suggestions?

When I tried to mix down a text recording to a wav file, I get a box that pops us saying "Nothing to Export. Please set loop or markers first." Can someone explain how to do this?

Thanks.

You probably figured this out already but I'll reply in case anyone else has this issue. You have to set your "End" marker at the end of your your song... Or any number marker such as "2" or "3". This tells the DAW where to start and stop the export. "Start" marker should automatically be at the beginning of your song. I believe it is under the Event tab (if it's not that one, it's in one of them and easy to find). Then go and export your track between "Start" and "End" (or 2 or whatever marker you put). I like the marker system, makes it easy to make snip-its of your song or the whole thing.

Unless you own the Producer or Pro version of S1 you cannot export .mp3's. If you have any further questions regarding Studio One

If you are on a mac I highly recommend Fission. Rogue Amoeba makes other very valuable tools as well.
