Gee, I thought I was just stupid! I'm glad I read this before I jumped. I don't like the idea of giving you this great plug in (Guitar Rig), and then finding out you cant use it. By the way, this thing makes Ampire look sick. I might upgrade, but I'm not sure I trust these guys. What if I upgrade, and it still wont work. Tech Support has not exactly been jumping all over these problems.

Not sure if you trust these guys? Oh for goodness sake. That's just silly. Guitar Rig works for most people but some have trouble setting it up. Unfortunately it's not a simple process and I agree that it's a pain but not to trust them enough to upgrade is a bit much.

Especially since you have so many witnesses here trying to help. Even a guy from Presonus.

I'm in Mac OS and installed NI Komplete Players (the free version). After it S1 Artist recognized Kore player but not Guitar Rig. After reading a little I found a little trick that makes guitar rig work perfectly within S1 Artist. Just go to \Library\Audio\Plugins\VST and rename "Guitar Rig 4.vst" to "Guitar Rig 3.vst" and you are ready to go!!

Yes, that's the trick

I already described that here :

Did you add the folder "vstplugins" to the path?

Or is it already there in your case?

Hmmm ... that's really disappointing. I guess the presonus team should have a look on this.

My studio one artist doesn't have a VST tab under options>locations. Did Preonus remove this in the latest version. If so, that's not right at all!

AFAIK Artist never had this tab, because it doesn't support 3rd party Plug-Ins others than the ones that come with it.

Did you check my Link from above ?

I described MY Way to go. I needed to add a Folder called Vstplugins somewhere in the program path.

Mountain,
Yea I tried it. I created the folder where you suggested but there is no tab for VST pluggins in the Options panel.
Check out the picture I've included.......update...The Presonus server won't let me send a file, great!

I think Presonus has defeated your technique. They are determined to not let people use VST with Artist. Honestly, they are behaving a little like Adobe in their marketing mentality. I might as well deal with Adobe, return my Presonus purchase and just buy Adobe Audition.

Message to Presonus: You have a nice product, but doing things like this with a $200 piece of software really turns people off!!!

Also, I don't have Guitar Rig, or EZdrummer working inside Studio One either. I tried running Studio One in Administrator mode per someones instruction, but that didn't make it appear. If it's working, does Guitar Rig show up in the Instruments or Effects tab?

If it is working, GR shows up as an FX.

Thanks, it's not there on the Effects list.

Well Presonus, I suspect that in your desire to block people people from using VST effects in Artist, you have inadvertently blocked the ability for people to add a file path to the VST tab (since it isn't there) and made it difficult to make the included VST effects work. Good Grief!

Even the free Audacity can use VST effects as well as Labsta, Nyquest, and Vamp.

I've checked the message boards in many different sites, and I've found a growing list of people majorly irritated by this decision Presonus. Time to rethink it! Getting bad word of mouth over a trivial matter like VST effects is probably not worth it when you are trying to get a foothold in the industry with a new product.

Also, the Pro version of Studio One has enough features going for it that you really don't need to do this!

I did a little test to see how easy it would be to get GR3 working with good-old-trusty-reliable-free Audacity.
It was very easy!

I dropped a shortcut to the VST folder (with Guitar Rig) inside the Audacity plugin folder. I didn't move or copy anything. Just added a shortcut. Audacity found it and will lauch the full graphical interface so you can add it as an effect to a pre-recorded track.

Gee....If I could only add a path to the VST plugins tab in Studio One! Oh...that's right I don't have that tab.

PreSonus, why can a free program use GR and other VST effects, but your $200 program can't?

I read on a forum that PreSonus is blaming the NI installer for problems like this. Okay that's a little silly. If you hadn't limited the program then people wouldn't be having this problem.

Now how do I get Guitar Rig working with my Studio One Artist?
