Personally I just did an update via the program. I have yet to really start anything so I won't know if I have any issues until then. If so, as someone has posted what they did, I will take their advice and uninstall, clean things up and do a fresh install of 2.5.

And as others have posted you could do a fresh install to its own directory and go from there. That is the most cautious way to go and it keeps your "working fine" configuration intact and you'll be able to work from it. Just my $0.03 worth and Merry Xmas/Happy New Year.

Hallo Vocalpoint. Another Nuendian over here?

I never updates through the internet/online if I got a choice. I always download first, to make sure the installer is not interrupted in any way.
Then I'm running the update locally in Administrator mode.

That said, I've installed 2.5 and not seen any thing that indicate trouble of any kind.
Not worked at very large project yet, but I've set up my Studio Template for S1v2.5 in my 96 in/out setup. A large template with 4 CueMix busses and about 20 or so Groups/Busses, and many tracks for big multitrack recording sessions. In addition I have loaded all my tracks with my go to plugins (Slate Digital VCC and VTM).
All routing tested and it work exactly as expected.

The only thing I miss from Nuendo (when doing good old fashion multi musicians/band sessions) is to be able to listen to what I give the different musicians in their CueMix. Like Steinbergs Control Room feature.
But they always get my preferred listening mix as a start point, so I guess I'll manage (or take out one of my old analog mixers again ).

Anyway, no worries on the Studio One 2.5 update IMO.

Wait for 2.5.1 and then better ask again to maybe wait for 2.6 or 3.0,3.5 .... ?
Everytime you ask you'll got answers and reasons to wait another period. Complex software will never be finished and bug free. It's impossible to test such a software in every possible environment.

Did you update right over top of 2.07 (or whatever version you had before)?

Sounds great - I think I will proceed with the update this weekend.

Cheers!

Even a fresh install would still use the same roaming profile folder. So you would still need to delete that.

Vocalpoint - welcome, long time no speak. I was on the Cubase forum years ago under a different username.......

Anyhow, I downloaded the installer and installed alongside. Just in case there are issues that are particular to a project used within a certain release, I like to work this way. History has caught me begging before, and I learned from my mistakes

2.5 running fine alongside 2.0.7

After reading some of the comments I've read here-got me to thinking: I installed within the program. Was having periodic crashes (even after vsl22 was retuned) & thought I should try a complete uninstall/reinstall of S1. Zero crashes since. RC-Tube no longer crashes S1 when I drag it to a buss. YMMV

You have no idea what your talking about with that Beta test remark. Even 100 beta testers could not account for the tens of thousands of different machine configurations out there. Not everyone, with issues, is experiencing the same issues. I have an over 20 client base all with Studio One machines and most of the issues were resolved with a clearing of the Cache, deleting the Roaming profile or just a clean uninstall an reinstall. Things are tested to the best of anyone's abilities.

Unless I'm mistaken, I said that 2.5 was not completely beta tested, not that it was not beta tested. The problem I posted in the "Version 2.5 bugs thread" took me 30 sec to discover after installing 2.5 and had nothing to do with an esoteric machine setup. Simple up and down scrolling was all it took. Other bugs that were discovered were also in the "Meat and Potato" category, not in some obscure plugins not working anymore with 2.5 on some weird PC configuration.

Of course people are testing to the best of their abilities. Doesn't change the fact that the guy has a tip top 2.0.7 setup and that I still think that he should wait before installing 2.5. Why? Because I found a simple meat and potato bug 30 seconds after installing the new version.

That's when I go all Depeche Mode and sing "It's a question of trust". If I can't trust the DAW, then I can't record with it.
