Yeah, this thread will go well.

It's all personal preference. There is no "best", ever, and never will be as long as there are individuals.

Edit: Imo, mmv, yada, yada, yada... .

lmike is right. example; if you are looking for something extremely streamlined and fast, why not cubase le v1.06? i have it on my laptop for live recording. no dongle. no external sync. hardly anything! but it can record 48 tracks at once and i can do some basic midi too.
and it never crashes.
so some would say that makes a 10 year old piece of software the best...
i'm sure there are peole running cakewalk from 10 years ago who would say the same.
it comes down to what you are used to for the most part. as for me, i'm happy to use whatever fits my purpose on any given job. so i go between cubase and studio one and sony vegas and cd architect and, and and...
ultimately you should buy what you want, learn to use it and stop worrying about what the other guy has.
(ok, now you'll all remember my whining posts about features from cubase that i miss here!).

Ok so we all agree that there are no absolutes and every thing is relative.
Spot the oxymoron.
So when I say cubase is a behemoth with a bad case of feature creep,
it goes without saying that it is my opinion.
I guess I like a bitch and moan now and then to know I'm not the only one.

Compare that to ableton. Live 9 seems to use less resources than 8 did and is snappier on my laptop.

C7 maybe is the most powerful DAW today. Lots of features worst workflow und less intuitive.

If you look for a DAW with more features that you can handle, Cubase 7 will be your choice.
But ff you like more the smarter way, than Studio One makes you happy.

There are some really nice features in Cubase, like the expression map or chord track, that I would see in the future of S1. But the intuitive workflow of S1 is more important to me.

No comment on C7 but I do have to give props to PreSonus for not being paranoid about other products being discussed on their forum

Videos or graphics of other products features would get erased or moved to the lounge (where the public can't see them ) on the Steiny forum. .

Gotta love the sense of security and self-confidence PreSonus shows in that regard.

workflow blah blah! i'm very fast indeed on cubase. like ali before his head got hit lotsa times.
i'm slower at editing on studio one (except for melodyne where i'm like ali before his head got hit lotsa times. ). is it because studio one is slower or has worse workflow? probably not. more likely that i'm used to cubase.
moral of the story; we get good at using what we own. or we give up and always look for something else to make up for the fact that we can't do it as well as we thought we could and need something to blame!

Just checked out the product page and the video's, I think for those that are new to Cubase could be tempted, anyone who has Studio One I think would stay with this solution in my humble opinion. Nothing there that would pry me away, but that's me.

Yeah i'm with you in this one.
Thing is, only few people really master Cubase and its gazillion sick features. When you're one of them, congrats!
I mastered Studio One in a matter of some hours.
Before i had StudioOne i had Cubase 6, which i bought because i knew it's the most complete DAW on the planet. After months of studying the Manual, hours of Tutorial videos, i was still too dumb to finish a song. Then i demoed StudioOne, and wrote a new song, recorded and mixed it in just an hour. I was stunned, and sold Cubase.

So, which one is better? The one you master.
For me, i never looked back, and i really like how things develop with StudioOne.

right.

PRODUCTIVITY is RIDICULOUS with Studio One.

anybody can be 'fast' on any D.A.W.; or any program for that matter...just like any car can ride at 100mph...but if i can get to 100mph BEFORE YOU??? that's what i'm all about!
