No. That is dependent on manufacturer's specs on their gear. I've chatted with them about that and it can't be done directly........ Yet

Why not? Doesn't Sonar and all sorts of other DAWs have zero latency monitoring?

Also...this 2.5...is it a new product or an update to the current version of Studio One 2?

No, as far as I know, the other DAWs rely mostly the interfaces routing ability. As far as 2.5 goes I believe it's just going to an update, not a new version.

I'm sure they'd save that kinda jump for a 3.0 or something like that. But 2x is still so new, I would think no major release would be here before 2014 or later.

I personally appreciate more, the free releases Presonus has provided and disagree that these updated are slow.

They kinda almost do the same thing, but it's much less flexible than what you get with UC and PreSonus hardware, it being proprietary.

They use ASIO DM 2.0 IIRC, to engage hardware monitoring from channels, but I don't recall being able to do any of the other stuff, like mixing and matching hardware monitoring or switching it on for cue sends. IIRC, in Cubase it was Global, direct monitoring, and all the hardware mixing was on the channel faders, not the sends, so (afaik) you couldn't build multiple hardware direct cue mixes directly from Cubase's UI.

So we could do that same thing with S1 and most hardware if it supported ASIO DM, which it currently doesn't.

TBH, what PreSonus did with UC is pretty much exactly what I always expected ASIO DM 3.0 to be... if Steinberg ever updated it... which they don't appear to be very interested in doing.

It would be nice if track layers were more flexible...each layer should have it's own mute/solo function and all should be able to be played together at once.

Really hoping they improve the layers system. That and improved MCU support are my main requests.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a major improvement to MIDI facilities so patches on external hardware modules could be auditioned and selected with ease? I could then completely swap over from Sonar.

I can dream can't I?
