Just a friendly suggestion

I think from a business point of view it would make more sense for PreSonus to come up with a controller targeted at recording, rather then producing.

Something between the faderport and the Studio Live, dedicated controller for S1.

But the may indeed very well be doing both or something completely different altogether. Can't wait to see what's cooking.

I am sorry to hear Eucon is not happening. I have the artist series, had an MCU and 2 XT's and a mixed logic M24 before, of those 3 the artist series and Eucon vs HUI or Mackie Control is far far better and deeper.

now on the flip side i would be impressed to see something like the 24:4:2 come out re mapped with motorized faders and totally integrated with S1. that would sell like crazy

i have the yamaha N12 and while it does not have motorized faders the templates and integration with Cubase is amazing.

since i have a large investment now in the artist series 2 MC Mixes, 1 MC control v2, and the transport this means if no eucon then no S1 for me. not that that means anything. but even in mackie mode S1 is pretty bad. HUI mode with PT LE is much better.

and thats a shame because i use Logic Pro and DP 7.2 and a little PT LE on my mac, but S1 just rocks and i love it.

I'm in the market for a smallish keyboard controller myself. S1's qwerty keyboard isn't nearly as nice to use as Live's 25 keys, transport controls, a handful of faders and knobs, and 16 pads mapped to Impact? I'd hold out for that. Heck, add in FW and I/O functionality and the MacBook I want to upgrade to next year will have a nice companion.

Well, that was made with Live in mind, and made to work with a part of Live that S1 has nothing like... What exactly do you want to do in S1 with a Launchpad? To be fair, Jim over at five12 did make Numerology respond to inputs from a Launchpad, as have other devs. But in S1 you aren't going to be launching Clips (Events), or using a step sequencer... and there are no transport controls on it. I'm not trying to be condescending, but what sort of use are you looking to have? Mixer Mode support?

Loving the looks of that. I really love my faderport. I've gone back and forth on bigger controllers, and I've settled on the Faderport now as it doesn't take up so much room on my desktop. With the quick control linking in S1, I can do all I need to do. (I seldom need to tweak more than one thing at a time.) Been quite happy with it in DP and PT, too. That said, I do like the idea of a (slightly) bigger Faderport or similar with great integration features.

I was just thinking this morning how I'd like Presonus to break into the keyboard controller market. Mostly because the existing market is terrible, dominated by cheap plastic crap, and Presonus has a history of hitting the mid-priced hardware market with devices that have unusually good build quality and value for money.

How about this: take the audio i/o out of the StudioLive, give us the faders with total control of S1. It could be called the StudioControl. It can be a generic or exclusive controller. Johnny's design is a classic. Keyboard-style controllers are cool, but I would use them for MIDI functions like VSTi editing and such. A fader box design has a more professional look and feel.

If Presonus was purely an upstart software company, I'd agree with telling them to stick with what they are good at...

Since they are, however, a hardware based company that went soft, I'm surprised this wasn't already developed and implemented free of charge with the first version of S1 (especially for the asking price of S1 Pro...I love it, but it is not on par with say Logic for the price).

What I would looove to see, from any company right now, is an 88 weighted key, controller with either a basic controller setup like an 9 fader, faderport...or a slot for an iPad with a Presonus developed App controller interface for the iPad. Now that would be amazing.

The iPad will be the new controller of the future. The first company to create a hardware collaboration with the iPad will find no shortage of users. Imagine something like the Akai APC40 with a slot to insert the iPad so not only did you have the touch screen but you also had dedicated hardware faders, pots, and knobs....

I know this is coming sometime, there have to be people being paid good money to come up with this stuff...if not they should hire me, I was created to be creative!

Hello All,

I just started using STUDIO 1 and I really like it! I am also a ACID PRO and Cakewalk SONAR user. I used to own a Yamaha Motif 8 which I sold. Now I am in the market for a good keyboard controller. I came to the site hoping to find and integrated Keyboard Controller made by Presonus. I was very surprised to discover that they don't make one. I love presonus products so far and would like to add my name to the list of folks who are requesting that they definitely make an affordable weighted/semi-weighted keyboard contoller. It seems a perfect fit for them. I can't wait! Please hurry!

You may want to check out, CME, Studiologic, Novation, or Akai's weighted options....I think you will be waiting for a long time for Presonus to come out with a keyboard. Unless they outsource, a keyboard is an entirely different set of "know-how" and innovation. Thre are many keyboards out there, but most aren't worth purchasing. I personally only use fully weighted and have a CME, which is pretty good, but not nearly as nice in it's feel as Studiologics. I truly wish Novation and M-audio would come out with fully weighted models...or Korg for that matter.

the thing is, most people want a control surface for the feel of actual faders, actually being aple to press record, mute, and having actual pan pots...the ipad doesn't do any of that. if you want that, you buy a touch screen monitor, mount it horizontally in your desk right now.

I've always heavily invested in hardware controllers. My fav used to be Tracktion3 with a 32 channel MCU & 3x EXT. That died so migrated to the great S1.

I have the Faderport and its not bad. However if your going to make a Control surface can you PLEASE PLEASE make it expandable to allow at least 32 channels if not up to 64. Does it have to be the usual 24 tosh. I know you can channel select form left to right but you mite as well have a single faderport yeah?

some suggestions:
1. An easy way to zoom in and out (& pan left and right) - arnt we constantly zooming in and out of S1?
2. Metering LCD with colour-coded labels (Like line6 M13) - maybe as an add-on.
3. two ver one with an included audio interface and one (cheaper) without as a controller only.
4. Chunky smooth Precision rotary knobs for our VST/plugin needs
5. Chunky Transport buttons with a fast rewind/forward dial like on video editing controllers - Im using the Shift-Pan to do this a lot. It would be nice not to have any Shift-ness

thanks
