Good point. I didn't go there because instruments deleted from the rack go to the trash so they're not really gone until you close the song. So even if you mistakenly delete an instrument from the rack under that scenario it will still be there in the trash to restore with all settings and routing.

The S1 trash is very cool and (imo) has great potential for things beyond what it does now. When you delete an instrument from Cubase's rack it's gone... completely. Here, you have a completely random "undo".

Yes i know i could use the trash, but once it´s in the trash it´s nowhere to be seen and you might very fast forget about it. Also, if you accidentially empty the trash, well, you know what i´m about. It´s an overview thing.

AudioCave wrote:To your very valid point though... I wouldn't want that to happen - an instrument being deleted from the rack - unless I specifically asked for it so maybe optionally have two right click commands... "Remove Selected Tracks" and "Remove Selected Tracks + Instruments"?

Dunno.

Something along those lines, i´m fine with whatever propper implementation. But what i was more about is, that the items on a track that gets deleted are deleted without warning, too. And i might not realize that there´s actually items on the track that i am about to delete due to a zoom-state that simply moved the item in question out of view. That imo is an absolute nogo. As soon as there are any items on the track that is deleted, there should be a window popping up, asking me if i would want to delete the items on that track, or if i´d want to abort the process.

Good idea.

Option: Warn when deleting tracks with events

I'd personally want that as an preference / option. I wouldn't want to see it every time I delete any track with an event on it unless I specifically checked the preference. Good idea.

and thanks.

Fine with me when a preference entry, but it has to be there, imo. Logic does this (though fixed, not an option), and this feature prevented me from a mess several times, so i speak on base of experience here.
Kind regards,

I hear you and it makes perfect sense. Cubase has some of these kinds of things, but I don't recall at the moment if it has that particular one. I do appreciate the little tick boxes on the Cubase dialogs for things that are tied to preference settings that say...

"Don't show this warning again"

For quickly switching off a preference setting or whatever. Anyway, it's a fine idea Nick. Big with a cherry on top.

I concur. A "Delete all Unused" from the rack would be good. I'd also like to see some kind of indication in the mixer of instrument channels that have nothing assigned to them. Something like below where the red color tells me that Impact 4 has no midi assigned to it.

In that case I can delete it manually without looking at the rack panel to determine what can be deleted.

i still don't see exactly how you delete instrument tracks from the console.

what's the key combination / command???

"REMOVING TRACK FROM SEQUENCER SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE REMOVED FROM MIXER."

i still like that idea...

Delete the instrument from the instrument rack. The instrument rack is on the left side of the console. All console tracks of the instrument will be removed after deleting the instrument.

Is there a remove all unused instruments for the mixer console today? I can only find remove unused files in the menu.
