UPDATE

1. Ok...just finished a major revision of the FAQ. There are now 13 parts instead of the original 3. This will make it far easier for me to extend, manage and edit and /or remove parts of the FAQ going forward.

2. In Part 10 I could not get the link for the Firewire checker to work on this forum. Maybe someone could help here as I don't know how to get the link to that utility thanks.

3. I could not find the Pro Rec interview Brett Randall posted last year. I searched on the ProRec site and found nothing. Maybe the new site over there does not yet have that article loaded. Anyway I added a video interview Jonathan did with Jim Odom instead (with a focus on mastering).

4. Where possible instead of adding a video link I have posted the video instead (embedded) as I think most people want to click and view a video within a forum post for convenience.

Have fun!

well well well.

i think we do not need a special "eike's corner", just incorporate my tips, that sat well with me before

while i may be somehow related to voodoo-one i am reallyreally not the one behind that blog. i like it though.

and then about the links. this is something we'll have to do here, but it will take a while. you just need to write an old into the linkadress -> i.e. links to forumsarchive.presonus.com now refer to oldforumsarchive.presonus.com ..

now, the information about soundcloud should be redundant with this forum.

the other one could get cited right in this faq:
Problem: heavy load when stopped or during silence
- load goes away when playback started again, or sound is processed
-> this is a problem with denormals. very small numbers cause cause the processor to change into a different processing mode, which is much much more expensive. this can be prevented in a number of ways and it should not happen with our own plugins. but opposed to other hosts we try not to do anything redundant (or sound changing) with the audio between plugins, so if one plugin produces denormals and another has problems with those and those two are chained, this problem occurs.
we really consider this a problem of those offending plugins.
you can debug or prevent this before/after suspicious plugins using something like this.

(or you could just add a mixtool and e.g. flip both phases or do a very small gain-change, i.e. do almost nothing)

No problem I can easily add any information you post to one of the existing FAQ parts instead.

while i may be somehow related to voodoo-one i am reallyreally not the one behind that blog. i like it though.

The mystery continues.

Excellent tip thanks. That is what I was looking for.

now, the information about soundcloud should be redundant with this forum.

Good. I chose not to add that info to the FAQ for the same reason.

the other one could get cited right in this faq:

Now added to Part 10 thanks!

Updates...

1. Dedicated thread for Spam Reports in Part 3 - "Reporting forum Spam"

2. Reviews...

a. I would guess many Studio One owners and potential buyers have not read Studio One Pro reviews from...Sound On Sound, Mix and PC world yet.

b. Most S1 users however should have seen this one...a link from Craig Andertons extended Studio One "Pro Review" has also been added to the FAQ Should have been added ages ago Lol! Sorry guys... If you have not seen it please check it out.

All the links to these reviews can can be found in Part 6 - "Reviews and Interviews".

3. A nice collection of useful tips from Monolithent make it into Part 10 - "Problem solving"

I finally have a quick breather from all the tech support threads and took the chance to read through all of this. You've got an exceptional writing talent. Nice work.

And thanks for the plug. I think I threw one into my thread for this area as well.

Maybe now I can become a complete newb again and really start messing with Studio One.

Updates

1. The Current version of Studio One (in the FAQ) gets changed whenever a new version comes out so I usually do not add it to the "Updates" post but as I am updating the FAQ with other info at the same time (this time around) so it will get a mention. We are now up to version 1.6.2 13889, Info updated in Part 6 of the FAQ.

2. The PreSonus 1Box product has been added to Part 4 of the FAQ with a PreSonus video from Justin Spence also added. You can find additional information and excellent user feedback from themuzic's thread on the subject here.

3. If you do not already know the first commercially available (AFAICT) set of exhaustive, easy to follow tutorials for Studio One became available on Groove 3 recently. Gigazaga / Berdstrom is the producer of the two Video Series "Studio One Explained" and "Studio One Advanced". Information regarding these videos has been added to Part 8 of the FAQ.

4. Motoko has put together a very helpful two part video series to help simplify the x64 / x86 conundrum many potential and likely some existing users of Studio One (and indeed all DAW's) still face. Watch his videos to help better understand the differences and how it can affect your choice of OS to run Studio One on. I have added a link to his thread (which has the videos) in Part 5 of the FAQ.

Updates.

1. Updated the "Current version" to 1.6.3 build 14172

2. Added a link to more info on the StudioLive Remote for iPad and The Studio One touchscreen hardware offering called StudioBlade. Info on both can be found in Part 4 of the FAQ.

3. Added some info on Installing sound sets (thanks Robitaille20). I also added some *additional* info there as there is more than one way to do it if drag and dropping to the start page does not work. You can find that in Part 10 of the FAQ

Update

I have not posted an Update post for some time but the FAQ is *always* kept up to date but with the v2 release now out this is as good a time as any for a quick post to keep you updated on what is happening here.

1. Various links in Part 1 and Part 2 were updated as a result of the lovely new Studio One 2 website.

2. PreSonuSphere, PreSonus Live and additional Social network links have been added to the FAQ - Part 3

4. FAQ Part 6 changes...The current version has been updated, an additional S1 review from Lazytechguys and another Studio One Blog link has been added to Part 6

Hey I have a quick question and hope I can get a quick response since I can only find a limited number of the Studio one pro updates for $99. I updated to stuido one V2 artist last night. I now want to try the V1 pro, can I still upgrade? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I purchased the Pro V1 update for $99, but I also have asrtist V2 that I updated for $10. I have not yeat did the artist-->Pro upgrade, but i did the artist1-->artist2 upgrade. I assume that since version one of artist is still on my computer I can upgrade that to pro V1 with the upgrade I purchased for $99. And also I assume V1 pro is still better than V2 artist, eventually I will upgrade to v2 pro just not now. This whole upgrade thing and new versions coming out at the same time is confusing. Thank you for the quick response. I just do not want to waste $99.
