As I don't use Midi plugins myself, excuse my ignorance here reversoulmusic but can I ask how they would help you with "chords, scales, arps etc."?

It was a free update if you own Studio One Pro Version 2, I see by your Sig you list Studio One V1, is it because you have the Artist or Producer version 2? if you own Version 2 Pro then you can get that update free my friend.

If you have an "old" version of Melodyne editor you'll have to pay for the upgrade (as I did).
From celemony.com:

Melodyne editor Version 1 to Version 2: the update costs US$99. It is free if you registered Melodyne after October 1, 2011.
Melodyne assistant Version 1 to Version 2: this update is free of charge.
Melodyne essential Version 1 to Version 2: this update is free of charge.

@mvh9591: I'd ask scitscat.com for a quote for the upgrade!

Not to be a dick, but if you're a dj, you play other people's records. If you're a composer or producer, you can make your own. None of these programs are supposed to make music for you--that's why the quality of music has gone down so drastically: people want to be stars, which has nothing to do with music--be an actor instead. If you need help with chords, arps, etc., take lessons on an instrument and put the time in. Or just use loops like so many do, but don't ask the software to make songs for you--it already does everything else...

Not to be a dick, but it seems you don't have a clue what reversoulmusic is asking for. It doesn't matter if you are a DJ or not or how you're making your music. It's a valid request - regardless what type of musician you are.

That aside 2.0.6 is a good update. Maybe I'm wrong, but together with the Melodyne update it feels a little snappier than before

Just mixed and mastered this in S1 V2.0.6 Pro from the stems recorded in the session. 2.0.6 Is a great release, love the new updates and Melodyne integration.

You're right--I haven't a clue why someone would expect software to write songs for them or play instruments for them. You're not a, "musician," of any sort if you don't understand chords, scales, and arpeggios--sorry for the bad news. That's fine with me--there are many great beat-makers and DJs, just please don't complain that DAW software won't write songs for you...It's a Digital Audio Workstation, not a Digital Song Maker or Digital Instrument Player...get a sampler and chop up some sweet loops that someone else took the trouble to learn how to play if you're too lazy to learn and practice...

I wouldn't even be participating in this non-debate at all except it's relevant because this program is on the path to greatness and I'll be pissed if it gets turned into Garage Band just to cater to people who are too lazy to learn a craft and do the work. Apple already ruined a good program we don't need another. I'm done here, thanks

I've been working on my Solo Jazz project in S1. I'm using very little MIDI if any at all. S1 so far seems to be a great tool for Musicians/Producers and Engineers...
I honestly like that it's not midi intensive. But of course I'm a multi-instrumentalist who plays what others sample (No Offense I respect all). I think it would be nice for these DAW makers to have various types of their products to fit their various clientele. Instead of S1 Producer and S1 Pro having less or more features...Maybe consider S1 Pro having a feature set for Engineering Pros and S1 Producer for those who just produce. It may sound a bit impossible or even dumb, but something along those lines would be great.

Aside from some of the minor annoyances I have with S1, I love it as it is. It doesn't get in the way of my work.

Normally I would wait to update. But the fact that the Mixer and Editor are now working together....That's Major.

Thumbs up to the guys at Presonus......Now about that DAW CONTROLLER......
Digi 003 (ish) would be cool!!!

I own S1V2 Artist and wanted to make the jump to Producer and what made it attractive to me was the fact I could use my Melodyne Editor 1.3 with S1 and it works great in V2 Artist 2.0.5 however when I installed 2.0.6 that went away - and from what I gather in order for me to use Melodyne now I must up to PRO or spend the $99 for Melodyne upgrade - I'm sure Producer has the same restriction - that is unless I can buy Producer 2.0.5 version. (that would make me happy for now)

So instead of only having to spend $99 for Producer to get my 3rd party plugins to function and gradually work my way up to PRO version I will have to make the Jump right to PRO if I want my Melodyne to work. It just seems like a money making sceme to me. IMO (sorry)

Macmini 2.0GHz Core 2 Dual 2G ram - MOTU 828, KRK, DP6, S1v1, Loads of VI's & Plug-ins, Kurzweil K2000s & 2600s, TrapKat, Washburn Idol & G5V Guitars, Ibanez Bass, Vox-ToneLab LE, Epiphone Valve Jr., Mackie 1202, Symetrix 525, Alesis 3630, Axiom 49, Audix_Cad 300e_AT 4033 mics, Etc...

If someone claims DJs being the pop-stars,- he´s a dick.
DJs aren´t any "type of" musicians for sure, they use others music or snippets of,- but don´t compose or really play anything ...
Glueing files, editing and push play doesn´t constitute (live-) performance !

Don´t have a clue about chords, lines and scales ?
Go, sit down and learn !

Buying a 200 bucks DAW application hopefully delivers a quality audio/MIDI recording/editing environment which needs the users skills and creativity as an input.

Yes it is.
Installed yesterday nite incl. Melodyne update and worked like a charme here together w/ S|C SCOPE 5.1, XITE-1 and Reason 6.02 rewired.

That's what I thought, It would be problem for those versions if you were using Melodyne 1.3. I guess they assume everybody is using Pro and the most up to date Melodyne, really does put you (and others) in a spot my friend.

Good update thanks Presonus. Enjoying the improvements...

Still losing external instrument connections randomly though, a bug introduced in 2.05. It's fixed with a reconnect via the External Intruments settings tab, but still a bit annoying.

So - I have been draggin my feet on other things and haven't even gotten around to 2.05 yet - can I just go for 2.06 over top of 2.04?. I assume 2.06 contains everything that 2.05 offered?

Cheers,
