Do the Audiobox interfaces work directly with iPAD (via Camera Connector / USB Hub)?

Good to know - were you able to test the midi?

Sorry, I didn't test the 1818's midi. I also forgot to mention that I used a camera connection kit USB connector.

I knew about the connector - would not be a bad idea for Presonus to formalize this - an additional sales channel right there.

I think that would be a great idea. I would like to see them take it one step further and integrate something like Capture in the forthcoming iPad VSL control software so we could both control from and record to an iPad. Where do I make a feature request for unreleased software?

Hooked up new 1818vsl with new Ipad. I used a powered USB hub and the 'camera connect' kit. Works in garageband, but only one input at a time, of course. Tried 'multitrack daw', since it's the only app out there that claims to actually record 8 inputs simultaneously...crashes the instant the 1818 is plugged in. If anyone knows of others apps that support 8 inputs simultaneously, that would be great! I would love to record gigs and rehearsals without dragging the imac down there. Thanks!!!!

I just bought the Audiobox 1818vsl, for many reasons including small live mixer. Works too good so i started research about this. I found Auria app of wavemachine labs, the same of drum agog. Its an expensive app but worth it. Take a look. It works with all ipads and sound excellent. Not a nice app, its a professional app. Good for record, good for live. For this configuration you have to use Apple Camera Connection Kit, powered USB hub and, of course, the ipad and the audiobox. Work whit other interfaces too. Hope be helpful.

Anyone done any live gig mixing with just an AudioBox and their Ipad?

I thought about buying an AudioBox 44VSL to use with my Ipad for solo gigs. I already have Auria loaded on my Ipad.

Context:
I was looking for a way to use my ipads as direct digital audio sources and looking for some good D/A converters to hook up to my main sound system, without playing with the original CD's anymore...

So this is just in case it's not clear for the new comers to audio box

Yes they work with ipad 1 and ipad2

audiobox usb or audiobox 22 vsl both work

Yes they can be used directly without any specific software.(ie no need for garage band as in the video to use it as first grade D/A)

Just plug it as in the video and you can use it as a great D/A converters to playback all those CD's you stored on your ipad, itunes library..
with better sound quality just do as you would normally (when hooked up output comes digital stream of the ipad...)

Check out our studio web site and twitter / Facebook pages for all pictures and details

steve griffiths wrote:Hi, I love my StudioLive and VSL / IPad, but i am looking for small iPad based rig for when I play open mics, small coffee shops etc. I have discovered I can plug a Lexicon Omega directly into an iPad via the camera equivalent, and I was wondering if the AudioBox series has that capability - I am very much an iPad noob so still experimenting. While I'm at it, can anyone tell me if iTunes etc, will redirect to an external device like the Omega, or Alesis Dock? I prefer a separate device over a dock as I want the iPad on a mic stand.
