One of the main benefits of dual pan pots is to be able to pan something at, say, 10:00 and 2:00 (clockface) or similar. Or maybe you want the right side panned all the way right and the left side panned at 11:00. Plus, with separate controls, you can sweep the pans on both sides, which comes in handy for special effects, etc. I suggested it to the developers about a year ago.
