Hi Pvg, You are right, only the lid of the doghouse sticks out above the trim pots. The sides are intentionally left open, so that there is enough airflow for the pc cooling.
I have padded the case cover in such a way, that nothing touches the buttons or faders when the case is closed.
I will post some more pictures, as promised (i really need to recover that account password, so you guys can stop calling me anonymous ).
Your case looks good as well, nice work! Only I did not want to carry my laptop to every gig, because I use it for to many other things. Building this mini pc was cheaper than buying another laptop, it was build for this purpose (hence the firewire card and 2 hard drives) and it could reasonably fit in a flight case.

@ Nlp187. At the end, I have spent about a 1000 $. Around 700 for the pc and 300 for the flightcase hardware.
If you consider the prices here in Europe, I think that was not too expensive... .

@ PhilG . Never gave it much tought. I can carry the case on my own. However, If I would build it again, it would place the handles in a different place. But, because you asked, I have set it on the scale and it weighs 36 Kg, about 80 lbs.

@ Rockstardave. I guess this is biggest compliment someone can get "Can you build me one ?". But I am not a profesionnal flight case builder. For me, this is just a part of the hobby. But even then. Prices in Europe are much higher compared to the US. So, building it here and than ship it to NY would lead to ridiculous prices.
But maybe you could take the pictures to a local company and have it build there ? I would be happy to assist if you might have more questions.

This was just my idea of good flightcase for the Studiolive. But there are more good ideas. I like the case from juki@ejuwe. As a matter a fact I am building something similar at this moment for a friend of mine. Not for a mixer, but for a dmx controller (pearl tiger). This controller also needs a pc for its full potential. But we wanted a small footprint, so I decided to put the mini pc underneath the controller instead of next to it. In the end, it looks very much like what Juki build.
(this hobby is getting out of hand

Otherwise they have one at http://www.thomann.de/se/thon_mixercase_studiolive_2442.htm
This is the Swedish part of the German webshop, but I think the ship to wherever.
Make sure you set your country right at their site otherwise the price is going to be wrong.
Today it´s 255 EUR but that also includes 25% Swedish VAT, so for the US it´s a lot cheaper.

You will be happy with the case that Carcrusher will build for you. There is no other case that will protect you console better than his. I have one with a few extras, and it is great. The wheels and pull out handle makes for a easy transport. Light enough for a one man to pick up and place, solid and well built. I liked the case so mutch that I had him build livein's for my new subs and a case for my yamaha dsr 112s and now I need to order another for two more dsr 112s. Dan will stand behind his work and he will build whatever you need. NOT JUST A BOX IT'S A FAT CASE

OK, I'll bite.

Crusher, I'm gonna put together some dimensions for my compact line array systems. I bought them with cases but I can't fit both cases in my truck at the same time. I want to break them up and turn them into three or four smaller cases that will all fit at once so I don't have to rent a box truck or reload the trailer all the time and I can get a setup in my truck.

I will shoot you a PM with some specs...hopefully tomorrow.
