Welcome to the darkside.

I guess I'll have to start frequenting the S1 forums a bit more.

Ha ha... maybe you should... To be honest I was lurking around here already quite a bit... LOL
But I got my 'colors' today to actually start posting...

Great unit, build like a tank and easy to get started on.

The only thing that I would have liked was a re-route of the main out back into the DAW. That would have allowed me to do some submixing through the desk and bounce back to the DAW. But other then that, so far I'm loving it...

The lights are nice too

Great to have you here Motoko!

I route everything to my Aux 1 and 2 and then take the AUX and route it to Channels 15/16 with 1/4" cables to record the full mix back into the DAW. Its a work around, but at least it Works!!!

Cheers,

Jason

Hi Jason

You name your solution a work around!!
Do you think that's how it should be on a digi mixer?
Additional DA/AD to record the mains?
so is there hope to get the direct stream of the mains back to the DAW in a firmware update?
or is it technically impossible to implement this essential feature?
Many other 16.0.2 Users are complaining about this as well!

I hope to receive a direct answer here because nobody from presonus is answering this question in my thread...

.............Main output and FX recording...........

Thanks
Dave

Hi there,

please count me as one of the "other 16.0.2 users" because routing the main outs back to the DAW would be a VERY VERY useful feature!

Thank you!

to give you an "official" answer: YES! this feature is coming.
NO! I don't know when it will be ready.
NO! I will not speculate on when it could possibly be out.

Until then, It's a simple work around to get it done while we wait. As one of my favorite groups says in the song of the same name:

Yesss!
That's cool!
I'm working on the little SL today and I'm impressed.
No single glitch or dropout with 64samples.
Installed the drivers in the Studio and it works flawlessly till 6 hours
And the sound quality (no mikes used so far, just electronic stuff)
is just great,

Thanks Presonu

Motoko,

Glad you're enjoying the 16.0.2! I'm finding that this is the most flexible "Audio Interface" in its price range that I've ever had the pleasure to work with! Its really revolutionary if you think of it as a simple audio interface... for around 1300 bucks, you've got everything you might need to interface with your synths, instruments, midi controllers, microphones, etc + you get super flexible routing possibilities to and from your DAW + Sound shaping and FX... For me personally, its the greatest product that we sell currently. I have it set up as the hub of my entire apartment: TV, Keyboards, Guitar, 2 computers, studio monitors (that double as my entertainment system) etc...

Cheers,

Jason

Glad to hear it DG! For the project studio, there is no finer central hub even close to this price!

1602 is really something special. It's exactly what (I assume) many small bands need and still it doesn't have any competition.
If the main out recording is really coming then 1602 coupled with a laptop can do live FOH sound, monitors, recording and mixdown all in one box plus a computer. Both fit in the same gigbag (gator 1815 for me).
When I bought mine I didn't even think about using it for mixing the recordings but now I have realized I don't really use DAW anymore. I get great results by just recording with capture and mixing the whole thing trough the SL.
The best thing is that I get to save the exact settings for live use. It's almost like cheating.

After getting the digital main out for me the next most missed thing would be gain reduction metering for the mains.
I can't see it even in the UC.
Channel output levels would also be nive (instead of "locate").
A super cool feature would be to have a "keyed" compressor like in Studio One. I just need to have that high pass side chain for bass guitar. But that would most probably make the SL too good and then everyone would buy it....
