Well, I just wanted to update you all on what's happening. I have seen the last Doctor that would have been able to help me recover my voice but I got the news that there is nothing they can do for me. My voice is all but gone. I have a very low level speaking voice, just enough for video work but it's very rough and painful for anything longer than 10 minutes or so.

The general consensus is that the Cholesterol drug Crestor is the culprit but I can't get any doctor to go on record pointing that out as the cause and one ENT (ear, nose and throat doctor) I saw actually said to me that it's most likely the cause but would not put it in writing for reasons of liability. Can you believe that?

I was absolutely crushed. All she could offer was to give me a recommendation for a speech therapist to help me with what I have left. I have been lost and depressed the last few days as I feel I have lost half of who I was. I can't even sing while I play guitar anymore because of the discomfort and it all comes out as a big whisper anyway.

I will still be doing videos and plugging away on Studio One but this video series is on hold till further notice.

I just wanted to say thank you all for supporting this thread like you have and thanx to Presonus for keeping it a "Sticky" for this long. I hope it has helped a great many people and maybe someday, by the grace of God, I will be able to finish it with a vocal section and be able to complete the mix.

Thanx to all of you for the support!!

Johnny, sorry to hear the news about your voice. Just do us a favor, don't lose your fervor for life and music bro. Look into a holistic solution to your cholesterol and/or voice issue. Keep on jammin' and God will provide a way for your "voice" to be heard. Stay strong Brother!!!

Hi TheMusic, John; I just wanted to say thank you for posting these videos, I learned a lot from the start; your enthusiasm is contagious. I can tell you love music and I know you are passionate about helping other people.
I don't know who you are, or where you live, or who is your God; but I know that I have watched and read all the posts in this thread for a reason; I believe that my God, the Creator of heaven and earth, Jesus is His name, has the control of everything and everyone, and I wanted to say thank you for your willingness to help me, I know you don't know me or even know that I need help; but you have helped me in more than just the music recording process.
I know what you are going through, but God knows better than me. I broke my back working and lost everything, my house, my cars, my guns, my furniture, my job, my insurance, I mean everything; I haven't worked for 5 years, I'm in constant pain, etc. but in the scope of the big picture, is nothing; I still have my kids and grand kids, and I still find people like you to be a good example and to not complain about our circumstances; so thank you for being there.
A lot of people are going to watch these videos and you are going to have an impact in their lives in more ways than you know, so I just wanted to encourage you; I know some people are not going to like it that I mention God, and I don't care; all I know is that He will never leave you nor forsake you,
You are a gift to others.
So, I will be praying for you, and checking this forum for more of your videos.
Thanks again.

Well makarios, I'm not a religious man myself but I respect those that are and I appreciate every word and thanx very much for the positive support. I wish you well in your recovery also, although mine seems small compared to yours.

As I learn to deal with my new limitations I realize I will never have what I once did but my speaking voice is coming along, albeit slowly and some days I can't speak at all.

I would never have imagined losing my ability to just sing would effect like it has. But it has. Not being able to pick up my guitar and sing for my 6 year old daughter has really hurt. She listens to my music all the time and I am humbled by her love for my music. If she was my only fan in the world, that would be enough for me.

Again, my issues are nothing compared to yours but I appreciate your positivity and the kind words.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I am not religious either, I hate religion, Jesus didn't like it either; in fact religious people killed him for that very reason. Anyway, thanks for the wishes; and I know what you mean, I have a 5 year old grand daughter and she thinks I'm cool, so it must be true.
I know one of these days you are going to post another flick for all to enjoy and learn, and I can't wait.
You have a great weekend.
Alex.

Hey Johnny,

As you know, I don't spend much time in here. I stopped in momentarily and decided to start from the back-end of this thread for a change. I'm still learning the studio side of things and your advice and direction have been of immense help. We have worked together and added ideas to each other's ideas to help fellow members through their problems on several situations. We have a common desire to help and educate where we can. Not to mention we are both from Illinois.

I read about your voice and was dumbfounded. I'm usually not at a loss for words but the ability to not use the greatest instrument ever created has me unable to express. You have my greatest sympathies and prayers, good sir. If there is anything I can ever do to help you, I am at your disposal. I have children ranging from eleven to just over one year old and singing is just how life is lived in my home. I can't imagine what you're going through.

You're one of the gurus around here. Keep your passion. If you've been blocked from one instrument (I say temporarily) then advance another one. Never stop the music.

You have my respect and hope for now and your future

One other thing. If you still need a voice to continue this good work, I will gladly offer you mine. It's not the greatest nor is my studio equipment to record it. But if you need it it's yours.
