I'm assuming that they will still be updates for people who are on Pro that don't purchase V2?

I mean... plug-in standards can be updated just like any other software so it's not beyond my imagination that the RTAS format can be updated (if it's somehow completely prohibited now, dunno) to do offline processing at some point in the future.

I always thought the main reason that PT LE (now PT9) didn't do offline is because their flagship (being hardware of course) cant do it... no matter what plug-in format you use with HD. Like mixing with a digital mixer... it always has to run in realtime.

So my assumption was that you won't see anything in their native product that the flagship product isn't capable of.

BTW... there are rumours floating around that Avid's next hardware workstation line may be based on Euphonics DSP... whatever chips the Euphonics consoles use internally... since (I think) they bought Euphonics.

Your assumption could be correct. I don't know. My understanding as to why RTAS does not support offline bounce is gathered from research on gearslutz.

But if you are correct in saying that RTAS is capable of offline bounce but Avid will not allow PT native to do anything that PT HD can't do, I would find that even more aggravating. If Avid thinks they can continue to retain their position in the DAW industry by spoon feeding with each PT release, one or two feautres that are years behind the technology curve and long overdue, IHMO they will fail.

I mean c'mon, it took them until version 9 to incorporate Automatic Delay Compensation and ASIO support and it was touted as a "Game Changer". Really? What's next? Version 10 = 64 bit architecture & VST suport? Version 11 = Unilimited Track count & Offline Bounce? If so, I have a feeling that by then the game will have changed on the "Game Changer".

I'm not a PT hater.... I own and use PT but I'll refuse to continue to paying top dollar for older features. If S1 v2 has everything need in PT that I'm not currently getting from S1 v1, I'll happily sell PT and use the proceeds to fund an upgrade to S1 v2.

I've never really used PT for much of anything other than translating projects and some light mixing, and that was all on the Win side, so let me ask.... is RTAS the only plugin format PT Native uses directly (without wrappers)? I mean, if a user uses all AU plugs (assuming PT actually uses AU plugs on the Mac side, dunno) that would remove RTAS from the equation wouldn't it?

Put it this way... doing a raw mixdown / summing of say 24 really great live acoustic tracks while not using any plugs on any tracks at all... certainly any RTAS limitation wouldn't be a factor there if you're not actually using any RTAS plugs. But you still have to bounce that in realtime I suppose.

So I was only asking (since I really don't know) if the limitation is....

A: Strictly an RTAS format limitation
B: A PT software / engine limitation
C: Or just an artificial limitation based on HD not being able to do it.

Or a little bit of all three. No idea.

I'd say it's a bit of all three.
I only use PT to create a PT session of whatever I've created in other software, in case I find myself in someone else's studio that only has PT.

Anyway, I'm so impressed by S1, that due to it's wonderful drag-n-drop functionality, it inspired me to go out and buy a second screen to finally enjoy that dual-view setup that every studio should have!

Thank you Presonus.

I don't know...

If there is an obvious "bug" in 1.65 that affects people who didn't upgrade they might build some good will by fixing it anyway, even after 2.0 is released. But actual "feature" updates, I seriously doubt it.

on all counts. Still have PT, but seldom use it anymore, except for that very reason. And 2 23" monitors are da bomb!

i havent seen any official words about V2 ever, not here and not on another page. Its all presumptions or wish thinking . No new feature list, nothing. Just a Forum that talks more about V2 than the possible potential development has advanced to. havent you guys noticed how small all the tiny little patches have been in the last year ?? do you think V2.0 will be such a Bomb ??? i wouldnt expect to much.. possible mass disappointment incoming.........

Presonus should have given out an announcement about V2 and its possible features, ehancements etc etc since ages.... but theres only some gossip about it on this forum..... thats it since weeks and month....

Looks like the forum tags are broken...

Tuccows is really oblivious to reality. People have pointed out multiple "official" comments from Jon and Rick and he just ignores them and keeps repeating the same thing over and over.

Not sure what the point is exactly but it's very entertaining.
