Master Coders,
Any plans for mute groups via VSL for the SL consoles?
Is it even a possibility? Seems like the control is already there via firewire?
Thanks,
John

Here's an option: save a scene for each mute group, with the desired channels muted in each scene. Then in the console's system menu, set the "recall" values to "no" for every thing except "mute." That way any of your mix changes will not be recalled with the scene, only the mutes on the channels.

Andrew,
Thanks for a great suggestion.
I think that's a feasible work-around for now.
Looking forward to hearing back from Presonus on the subject.

John

Sure thing, hope it works smoothly! I thought about that scenario a while back and played it through in my head, but haven't put it into action yet. I'll have to test it out too, next time I gig out with the SL.

I'm not sure what they've got planned, but that's a great suggestion!

Another option, not sure if you're aware of this, but you can simply click and hold mute on the first channel, and drag across all the other mutes, and it mutes all the other channels as well. It makes it very simple to mute the board with 1 quick swipe. However, your option for mute groups would be nice, but I definitely think your best bet would be to do what the other guy said, just create a scene.

Thanks all for your suggestions!
The only problem with the scene deal is you loose audio for a beat. In my setting there is constant sound.

Good point. I guess you could go with the obvious (I should have thought of this first): route whatever "mute channels" you want to a subgroup (or pair) and mute that. Doesn't mute in the auxes though.

Andrew,
Thanks that's the best right know.. Band subgroup turn aux's down manually. It's only 4 mixes I'm running from FOH. It would be nice if aux's had mutes though.
Another thing I miss from Yamaha land is individually selectable per channel and mix pre/post selection. Nice for the track act crap to run the backing tracks post so they fade in the monitors.
Probably impossible.
Enough bitching though it's a great board at a great price!!!!
Thanks,
John

So after using the SL24 for 7 weeks 4 days a week about 12-14 hours per day, I have to say I had a pretty flawless experience. Only 2 issues:
The first was a firewire order deal where no input appeared any where until I reconnected. Probably my fault.

The second was on the very last day. I do have a UPS in line. We may have been hit with some kind of bizarre voltage drop or surge. The Windows laptop came up with an orange screen of death which I have never seen. This laptop was not even connected to the mixer through firewire just audio. The SL24 became totally unstable and was switching between sample rates and randomly scrolling through FX presets and parameters were changing like it was possessed. VERY bizarre. Tried reseting twice with no avail.
Show which was luckily only a DJ had to go on. I had a Mackie analog under my riser as a backup all season which I had to pull out and hook up and use. BTW the ONLY time.
Pulled mixer out, disconnected power cable from AC, let it set for a few minutes reconnected and it seemed to be fine. Testing again today.
Any one ever experience anything like this?
If you do disconnect the power from AC pulling the plug totally. I think if I had done this all would have been fine.
I'm really not reading much into it especially as the laptop freaked in a way that I've never seen as well but wanted to throw it out there for everyones reference.

I received many compliments on the sound and the bands absolutely loved the on stage monitor mix via the ipad. I can't tell you how much time and hassle this saved us! Absolutely brilliant PreSonus! Now just give us programable mute groups via VSL and I'll be in heaven! LOL

She's gonna have to go back to Presonus. I'm not for certain what's fried but, somethig is definitely fried.

Get yourself a ticket in with Tech support.

Must have been one hell of a power problem that a UPS didn't catch it either.

Thanks yes in process via the online support ticket deal. Does a little cycle of working for 3 or 4 minutes, unresponsive, then lights out.Don't know if we actually did have a surge. Just talked to the lighting op and he said we didn't blow any breakers. The only thing that made me think that is the laptop freaking although it may have got something back from the board via the audio connection.
Oh well almost a flawless summer, but it couldn't have happened at a better time being the last gig and a DJ. If it was a band situation I would have been screwed for a bit and not a good note to go on for a gig I'm hoping to do again next year! I'm so glad I listened to that little voice and had a backup there.
Thanks for your response and lets hope it was just a freak thing!

If I manually edit my "mute group" XML scenes and remove all other stored values, if I recall that group, will it only apply the mutes, regardless of what is indicated on the console menu... since only mute group data is present?
