Some detail on our RAM meter, for those interested:

A few people wondered why they saw some RAM usage with empty Songs. The display includes the memory that program code needs, including application code and application data like skin bitmaps etc. It is virtual memory that S1 uses, no system memory is included.

Also, it does not reflect the actual RAM installed, it is the addressable virtual memory size.

2.0.5 is very cpu hungry! I have 4 core cpu... Please force s1 to be light on system.

CPU going completly crazy when i use openair in my project (like 0 to 60% cpu usage and constantly changing) (project 24 bits/88Khz double precision in setup)
its seem to be usable at 1024 sample (512 or 2024 going crazy) (audiobox 44vsl safe mode)

and when i close studioone i got an error message saying studioone has crashed...no project damaged for now but very scary !

win7 sp1 32bit 3go toshiba laptop U400/21p (dual core T3400 2.16ghz)

alcyon972 , have you tried normal or fast modes? I got my best performance out of my AB VSL at the fast setting.

'The CPU going crazy' isn't descriptive enough for us to look into this. We need detailed system specs, elaboration on what the Song looks like (empty or not, how much stuff loaded, etc). If you're seeing this in 2.0.5, email me directly with as much detail as possible (jghillman@presonus.com). Thanks!

ONE REASON wrote:My cpu is jumping around from 10-32 or so % in an empty song.

My ram is pegged at 15%, with nothing at all running.

Also Ampire gets popping and crackling using some of the heavier presets.

Open air is pretty much unusable, pops, crackles all over the place.

My buffer size is set to 512, dont get any of these issues using Live, Reaper etc..

Win 7 64 i7, 8 Gb RAM... using 32 bit S1 and a Steinberg\Yamaha UR28M IO... set to 512.

I posted this previously, I imagine its as detailed as you need?

The project is default "Empty song".. nothing at all loaded.

I dont have a working email at the moment.

Thanks for the details (still add your specs to your sig though!)

Have you tried running our power profile? (http://support.presonus.com/entries/203607-studio-one-optimizing-windows-vista-7-power-settings-for-studio-one)

And do you see the same performance if you switch to Windows Audio?

Johnathan, I idid use the power profile on a previous OS install and a different soundcard...

Then I got the UR28M and had major difficulties getting it to work correctly in any OS... after a format it works flawlessly so I am trying to ..not.. do anything unnecessary to my system in the hopes I wont start experiencing issues.

I will try to switch to windows audio and report back.

I don't seem to have problems with Kontakt 4 hanging on start-up any longer. Seems like things get a little better with every release.

Thanks to the Presonus team for the upgrade!

Switching the power profile does nothing permanent, and you can switch back to the one you have on right now whenever you want.

Was v2.0.4 totally stable with that same interface and OS setup?

I like S1, but Reaper is very low on system! Hope Presonus will reduce cpu usage in 2.0.6!

2.04 did not do this... neither does x64 2.05.

The power profile reduced this.. slightly.

its now pulsating between 0 and about 25% as opposed to 32% or so.

Using onboard sound card makes no difference.

Maybe option to choose interpolation quality will solve the problem?
