im in the early stages of going to do a massive modification to my SL

build a pc inside it!

I have measured up the space requirements and it is totally doable

Specs I plan to build

Intel i3 540 3.1ghz dual core
4gb ddr 3
Via Pci firewire
asus wireless N 300mbit ( I know these do not mess up the recordings )
64gb Solid state drive
Delkin USB 3 card reader
2x 128gb Lexar Class 10 SDXC Cards for recording space
Motherboard to be confirmed as yet, looking into the Zotac Mini itx 1156 units or something similar

I am still looking into the brackets that will be needed and venting the heat

might even be able to fit the router in there if it does not cause any problems

Slap an ipad on the back of the desk and could not be simpler!

why has no one done this yet?

Well I for one want to see a pic of that bad boy when it's done!!!!!! I wonder if you could solder the FW contacts point to point so to speak so you wouldn't have to have any FW plug connections? At any rate I'm with ya in spirit!!!!!

I did this on my Korg D3200 MTR using an VIA mini-ITX.

Heat might become an issue but you really should look into the mini-ITX stuff.

I don't think you need too much raw computer power but to run capture, UC, wifi and similar stuff.

There are some very small PSU for the mini-ITX as well.

Good Luck!

yeah mini itx is the way to go, no one seems to make a mini itx board that I can put an i3 onto though

lots of via embedded stuff with the crappy cpu's but I want a half decent cpu in there so it will be mini itx board powered by 19v DC laptop psu with a low profile FW pci card hard wired onto the main board of the SL - will have an external power button where the BNC light connection usually is

Half decent cpu - http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/processors/quadcore/index.jsp

I am hoping to use TC's SDK to interface my StudioLive in the end - So many options, so little time
