Maybe I am missing the point but is the picture suggesting that the new forum is only for white people who live in the suburbs have at least one kid in the witness protection program and can carry the worlds biggest boom box on their shoulders?
Lokeyfly wrote:Dan, in your case you are asking about using 10 or so commands and having quick access. We're throwing some options and work flows out there to help. Hope this is at least helping. As you can see, we all have the luxury of working different ways. Quite a good thing.
Sounds like Dan (dgkenney) wants a 10 button alternative in a mouse, and there's some pretty slick options that way. Just make sure they handle your macro needs. Me, don't need..... sorry.....though they do look like eye candy. Cheers!
First, thanks to everyone that replied. I appreciate you taking the time to do so and you have given me some good starting points for further investigation.
I guess what I am looking for is simply a multi-button mouse that can 1) perform hot-key macros with a single button (e.g alt+shift+L) and 2)have a form factor where the buttons are easily differentiated so that I don't have to lose focus on the screen when I edit.. I don't want/need a control surface or scrubbing capability. Typical uses would include:
1) Change cursor function
2) Split at region
3) Loop region and play
4) Zoom region
5) Zoom all
6) Copy region to new track
7) Duplicate layer
Add layer
9) Bounce no snap
I have the macros and the hot keys, just need a different way of launching rather than keyboard.
If you have more ideas let me know. I'll report back if I find anything interesting.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Looks like I'll have to try and see if it's worth the trouble. The Razer naga looks interesting but I am wondering if you can really identify all those buttons with your thumb. If you have to look it kind of defeats the purpose.
Like to know what you recommend (or not) and your experiences. There are about 8-10 macros I use constantly and would like to keep concentration on the screen rather than keyboard hot keys or mousing toolbars.
