Studio One General Discussion » mixdown duration problem » Go to message
Another quick way to solve this is by hitting the following key combos in the arrangement:

- Ctrl+A (Select everything)
- P (to set the loop around everything selected)
- Ctrl+E (mixdown)

And select the loop as mixdown area instead of the markers.

CPhoenix wrote:I noticed that for some sidechain to work on some VSTs... I had to set up a bus in order to select the plugin's sidechain in the right-click menu.

No clue why. It's like that with Softube's CL 1b using VST3

Note sure why you would need that. Here's both the VST and VST3 version of the Softube CL1B sichained, no busses neede, no tricks...

Very annoying bug in studio one because nebula and sound radix align are only vst2.
And sound radix align is nothing without sidechain !

Sidechaining works on VST and VST3. It's not a bug in S1, can you post a screenshot of how you've set it up?

It depends on what version of Waves you are using. As of v8 64-bit versions are included in the installer.

Hmmm, sorry to hear that mate.

m_bryant78 wrote:And I should have. But it mainly irritates me that I can't use those when the retailer explained they would work and so did the other retailers I looked at this interface from as well. Had I seen a reason to do further research I would have. But retailers make it sound like Artist will run your plugins when it simply won't and that's where the problem is with the retailer. Does presonus offer a student discount on the crossgrade like they do the full version of S1 pro?

I understand the irritation and the issue with the retailers. But if the retailer told you 3rd party content is included, that's something different then 3rd party plugins.

Anyway. You might not have to look at Pro by the way, Producer will suffice in your case.

m_bryant78 wrote:Pro Tools MP allowed me to use all the RTAS versions of software I had right out of the box with my Avid interface. If I'm buying something from a retailer and told my plugins will function I expect that to be the case. All of the retailers I looked at made it seem like the software supports this as well. Kind of a shock to find out that isn't the case. I haven't used a daw included with an interface that didn't allow VST plugins to work with it. Maybe they didn't have MP3 mixdown or something small but massive and SD2.0 are $800 on programs I use daily and the fact that if I want to use Studio One I have to drop $200 more doesn't sit well with me.

You are aware of the limitations in PT MP? Those don't apply to S1 Artist.
If I had invested so much money in plugins I would have done more research probably.

First of all, there's a clear overview of differences between the various versions of Studio One on the PreSonus website. So you can check for yourself what exactly it is that you are getting.

3rd party content is actually correct, the bundled content is made by various producers of loops and samples.

3rd party plugins is a different thing.

Studio One Artist is a fully functional DAW, even Free is fully functional. If you get all the functions you need, now there's a different discussion. Also what audio interface comes with a top tier version of the DAW? None that I know of...

And to the other folks reading this who are more regulars. No need for warnings, I saw the postcount and read the tone of voice. But I felt a little adventurous today

Rule is, there's no rule.

Do whatever you feel benefits your mix or composition...

juhanihemmila wrote:Hm. Think I may have found it: Alt Z. But it´s now quite what I want, it doesn´t zoom in horizontally only vertically. In Logic there is a KC that fills the arrange window with all regions and in PT you can do a similiar thing (but in two steps). Perhaps it´s two steps in S1 aswell? /J

See my reply above.
Studio One General Discussion » MP3 Quality... Or lack of it. » Go to message
The LAME encoder used is probably the most common encoding engine out there. Not sure which version is used and other tools may add some 'tricks' to spice up MP3 sound.

I never encode anything lower then 320. And even that is somewhat discutable in terms of quality. Even when I use it to publish to the web as most websites that host stuff run their own encoders over the MP3s as well. Degrading the sound even more.

I'd love to see a NULL test as well. Would be weird if S1 actually did something to the sound besides running it through LAME.
Studio One General Discussion » Shortcut for this function? » Go to message
Not sure about a shortcut, I'll have to check.
But right click in the timeline and select 'Fit Timeline to Contents'

There's no shortcut attached to it by default in the Studio One keyboard mappings, but you can add your own.

Go to Preferences -> General -> Keyboard shortcuts and look for 'timeline'. Then add the key you want.
