16.4.2 » Gain Reduction Full Red » Go to message
Hey Guys, I have run across the gain reduction stuck problem. Sometimes I'll unplug the FireWire cable and plug it back in and the problem will be gone for a couple mins. Eventually it comes back. Now it no longer shows the gain reduction all the way up. The sound just stops working when producing. I am sure it's not my computer because before I used to be able to record huge amounts of tracks with no problem. Now as soon as I create a new project it'll work for a couple mins. And then when I am working on it a bit it'll turn off the sound. Also, Studio One itself is picking up the signal because it picks up sound when I hit my keyboard notes into the midi. The meters do move. Usually I'll be playing back what I recorded and the sound will get extremely distorted and I'll hit stop and when i hit play again nothing happens. I am not 100% sure if it's my mixer or studio one. I re-flashed my firmware, updated studio one and everything with no success.
thanks.

PS. The mixer will sometimes work by itself when unplugged.

I think this thread had to do with this problem too. http://forumsarchive.presonus.com/posts/list/18527.page Seems to be an ongoing problem.

I've been having the same problems with my 16.4.2. Whenever I turn the mixer on after my Windows 7 64 bit computer is on the board freezes up. There are no input signals and the GR meter foes full red. One way to get around it is to turn the mixer on before you turn the computer on. Another way is to unplug and re-plug your firewire cable in order to unfreeze the board. I just submitted a ticket. Hopefully there will be a fix for this problem.

I actually did that yesterday. I went thorugh the whole process of installing 1.5.2 and then 1.5.3 over it. However, the board still freezes if I have the computer on and then turn the board on. I found ways around it, but it's still annoying. Hopefully a fix is on the way.

My board keeps freezing up whenever I turn it on after my computer is on. Do you guys think this has to do with the 1.5.3 issue? I uninstalled it and went through the whole process with 1.5.2 in order to reinstall it again. However, the issue still persists. Any thoughts?

I found out that my board was freezing up due to the current bug in universal control 1.5.3.the board works fine until I get the FireWire to the computer going.

I seem to be having the same problem. The first time it happened, there was a sound spike and then the mixer would not pick up any of my mics. I did a factory reset on the board and it worked fine. However, I turned it on today for some recording and the mixer would not pick up any mics again. Had to do another factory reset.

How did you go about recording the final mix? How where you able to record the FX from the board? Whenever I add some FX to the drums such as reverb, the final sound does not sound like it did through the mixer. The FX don't get recorded.
