In my early days with the 1394 Inspire I learned the hard way that if I was setting the buffer size too low, I ended up with crackles and pops on the recorded wave and not just in the soundcard playing. I also have a mic that makes a kind of irritating pulse and as now is useless.
Lots of if's here...

It could be as simple as buffers set too low, but until we know more from Poetdeep about what is on that machine it's a guessing game...

And by the way try to post on just one of the forum indexes as if you post same on many topics you will propably be considered not as serious as if only one.
The other way folks tend to look at your stuff as a possible troll.

Try to change your buffer size to something bigger and see if that helps.
