Digital Audio Recording » Why am I clipping?? » Go to message
Hi, I'm a bit of newbie so pardon me if I sound unknowledgeable. For some reason every time I go to export my mixdowns in studio one it clips by anywhere from 1-4db. I'm usually only recording my guitar via mic and I always set my instrument input to a moderate level to where I am not clipping during recording. I usually have anywhere from 1-6 guitars going at a time (rhythms, melodies and harmonies on separate tracks) along with a midi drum beat. Whenever I see that it clips during the exporting process I will go back and try to EQ some of the low end or put compression on the tracks (just the default compression settings because I don't know what I'm doing) to see if I can make it better and it usually only makes a moderate difference. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what could be causing this? Again, during playback in the program no levels meter is clipping. Thanks for the help in advance!

I actually figured it out! The USB port I had my audio box plugged into was 3.0 and was not registering the hardware. And thanks for the tip on the signature. However, I could not figure out where to edit it in order to put my information. Where can I find that option in my profile? Thanks again!

Thank you so much! I have had the same problem for days and have been so frustrated trying to figure it out and that was exactly the problem!

Hello, I am trying to start my first project in my new Studio one 2 product. I am familiar with other recording software and am at least familiar with the basics on how to work the program. However, no matter what I do I cannot seem to get my program to recognize my audio input! I have installed the program (obviously) as well as the audio box drivers. My microphone is plugged into the mic 1 input and my I/O is configured properly. I have armed my track for recording and I know the my interface is at least receiving input because I can hear it in my speakers as I talk into the microphone. However, the levels bar is not recognizing any input and when I try to record it is completely flat lined. What am I missing here?! Also, I have already installed and successfully recorded on this software using my girlfriends laptop so I've done this successfully before. I have no idea what could have gone wrong this time. Thanks for the help!
