I mean the CPU usage is mostly at 25% (at 256 samples buffer)
Actually, closing the project using "file/close" works amazingly well in comparison. Things gets unloaded much faster and after that I can close S1 without any troubles.
Hmmmm....these guys devs have so many things to fix it seems Cannot wait to see what do they have for the next version....unless is new bugs.
My CPU usage is on the floor most of the time, this machine can take it all.
RAM usage when I close gradually goes down, as I suppose S1 is closing the kontakt instances, but then stops doing anything as it reaches around 4gb (which is Windows + naked S1 together)
So is not a problem in the machine, is most likely S1 or Kontakt having problems. No biggie, I just wonder.
It refreshes kinda slow in some cases, mostly when the mouse is over the timeline while scrolling. Seems like S1 is not optimized to take advantage of a video card.
when those two items might do more than your actual keyboard EVER would?
Well, I agree it depends on your needs and how you use your gear. But in my experience you buy these things and they end collecting dust cause frankly you have more than enough right there in your keyboard and you barely more the hands away from it.
Quite interesting for gaming, I can see it being really useful in Starcraft2, not sure about S1...again, you don't wanna move your hands from your keyboard.
For a good beyboard I would recommend the Logitech k750 (wireless - solar powered) I have it since last summer and I absolutely love it.
For anyone with a mouse where you can assign keyboard shortcuts to your wheel tilt buttons.
Set them to CTLR+Left and CTRL+Right then you can scroll left and right effortless.
Nowadays I would recommend the G602, simply because it has a much better battery life cause is optical instead of laser. I love my G700 but the battery lasts one day so I have a bunch of AA rechargeable batteries always near.
Maybe the only thing I don't like on the g602 is the wheel itself, it doesn't run freely as in the G700 (I think) and that's really useful when having to scroll great distances.
BTW: If you have multiple monitors, rotate the monitor with your main timeline to portrait (and set accordingly in windows) you'll see how intuitive and how much space you have to work with, mostly when doing huge mixes or orchestral music with tons of tracks. You'll also find a monitor in portrait orientation is MUCH better to browse the internet.
I wonder if you really need such thing. A mouse has 11+ buttons already and there's no better device than a mouse pointer.
Plus the shuttle construction doesn't look that good.
I'd say a good mouse with lots of buttons (wireless is also great), a Faderport, a controller such as NanoKontrol 2, a keyboard controller (or 2) and your computer keyboard is all you need to work fast.
I also have a logitech trackpad, is useful but sadly sequencers such as S1 and FL studio don't have a smooth response as in a browser, otherwise it would be fantastic to navigate and zoom using gestures. Still I use it to change presets on a plugin with my left hand while playing on the music keyboard with my right hand.
