This may be only a problem with the 24.
I have the latest firmware. And the problem is repeatable.
I'll pass along this issue to tech support.

StudioLive General Discussion » SL 24 Case » Go to message
Has anyone found a decent case for the SL 24 yet?
The one suggested by my retailer is a Gator, but I have to question the fit when they recommend the same case for the 16 and the 24.
I'm looking for a case I can leave the mixer in with the top removed (during a gig) and still access the head phone jack and I/O jacks.
Any suggestions? Is anyone using the suggested Gator case?
Thanks

I hate to admit this, but my PC does not have a DVD drive, so I was unable to install VSL, Studio One and Capture that came with my Studio Live. I was able to download Studio One and VSL, but can't find Capture anywhere to download. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I too regularly re-format my harddrives. Even my studio PC tends to get bogged down now and then. There's nothing like a good formatting to get rid of all the crap that finds its way onto the pc (weather intentionally or not). Also HDD crashes force re-installation of software (and keys). I know there is a lot of piracy out there, but why should the honest folks suffer for it. I hate getting the 3rd degree when I need my number of installs reset. Even though I paid for a product I'm treated like I'm trying to steal it. I just went through this same thing with Symantic Anti Virus. There must be a better way!!!

1. Is it just my PC or is the Font and Background color for the site search (upper right corner of page) the same color? I can never see what I'm typing in that box.

2. Is there a way to sort postings by the last posting/reply date. So the most recent posts/replys are at the top of my list.

Thanks

I just got my SL24 a few weeks ago and have the same problem as JP. The unit was shut down after our 1st practice with the FXa/b sends to the monitors in Aux 5 working fine. Next practice we powered up and no FXa/b to the monitors. I checked the FXa/b mix on Aux 5 and the levels were correct. I had to do the same as JP, just turn the encoder slightly for the mix to fix itself.

Looks more like a bug than a parameter setting, but I have not had time to try the recall parameters. If it is a recall parameter setting causing this, there is still a bug, because the mix meters should be off, for the FX to Aux mix, if it's not going to produce any sound (FX).

I don't know if this issue is repeatable, but JP makes it sound like it is. Someone else want to try and see if this is a global problem.
I also do not know if any of the other Aux mix inputs are affected in this manner. I'll see if the external FX, tape..etc. have the same issue.

Thanks (and I am running the latest updates)

Thanks Monolithent,
I thought the GR meter worked the opposite way. I need to read up on the subject a little more.
By the way everyone, I love this desk!!! It was so easy to set up out of the box, which for an amature like me is a big plus. Can't wait for our next gig.

I may have a similar problem as tomis17.
I unpacked my SL24 shortly before band practice and did a quick setup by loading in channel presets and setting the input gains.
I happened to noticed that the GR meter was full red on my desk as well. The difference with mine is it actually works, but the GR meter seems to be backwards. I assumed the meter would be blank until someone sang in the mike, then it would show the reduction (top down). Mine was full red until someone sang then it blanked out from the bottom up. I forgot about it until I read this thread so I didn't check if it was the same for all channels, or if it was something I set wrong. I'll check it out this weekend.
Am I reading the GR meter incorrectly?

StudioLive General Discussion » Are Aux Inputs A and B really stereo? » Go to message
Aux inputs A and B are true stereo channels.

So the dynamic processing is all appied in stereo as well? No individual control of L and R.
I just found the block diagram a little confusing because other stereo paths a drawn in stereo from input to output (like the tape input).

I may have assumed something incorrectly here, so please help me out (my SL24 is still on backorder here in Canada )

I noticed in the SL 2442 manual that the block diagram shows Aux Inputs A and B as stereo inputs. It looks like the stereo path is summed to mono after the A/D conversion.

1. If that's true what's the point of the stereo inputs in the first place?

2. Do you have to link Aux inputs A/B (is that even possible?) to get a true stereo return?

Thanks

StudioLive General Discussion » Signal Routing - Panning » Go to message
Hello,
I am a guitarist (forced to be on stage soundman)

I don't have my SL24 yet... ordered today.

Some basic questions about the Channel Pan Control.

1. Lets say we link channels one and two. Pan controls the L/R positioning. I'm guessing the stereo signal could be summed back to mono if the Pan is centered.
True?

2. What happens if the above L/R stereo mix is routed to an unlinked sub channel?
Summed to mono? Loss of one channel?

3. What effect does a mono channel Pan control have when a mono channel is routed through a mono sub channel?
None?.... Loss of gain??

Not that any of these have a practicle use, but knowing the results may help me with routing problems down the road.
Thanks
Wally
