I too would like to be able to link the GEQ from the desk.

Another Update
Tech support now verifies there is a bug in the SL24 Aux mix. The FX settings are being recalled, but not outputting any audio until the user moves the FX encoders in the Aux mix. PreSonus is working on the problem and hopes to have it fixed in the next update.

hmmmmmmm
Just got a reply from Tech Support. They still don't believe I have the most recent drivers, but I do
They don't seem to want to admit there's a problem.... or have not been informed. I told them about Johns post so we'll see what happens next.

Thanks for confirming that John. I'm glad I don't have to send my board back

Glad to hear the problem is being worked on. Thanks PreSonus for the prompt service

Looking forward to the update.

StudioLive General Discussion » SL 24 Case » Go to message
Hi Mort,
That's pretty much what I am looking for (here in Canada). How is the SL supported if the case is tipped upside down? And what about those up-side-down handles that fazmanicg mentioned?

All other cases I have seen so far only support the mixer in the upright position, but if someone tips the case, all the weight is transfered to the knobs. Maybe I expect too much of a mixer case. A simple "This End Up" sticker may be all I need.

Other cases just have a poor fit and the SL flops around inside. The ones that have good support, lack other features (like the removeable lid, and access to all connections). Seems custom jobs, or home made, are the way to go.
I may use this one as a model for building my own case, because I have not found one like it available in Canada.

Thanks for the link Mort, and the ideas from everyone else.

tsnave,
I researched that Gator case because it was recommended by my music store. I didn't have much faith in it because Gator recommends this same case for the SL16 and the SL24. I believe you have to cut the foam for a custom fit as well. I'm still looking...

Thanks for the link Jerryd. I learned something new today. Not something I will be able to do with the SL24, but interesting none the less

Interesting video, but he lost me on the VCA topic. Can someone elaborate a little?
Thanks

Hi JP,
I mentioned that this problem was reported by others when I submitted my help request. I wish a few more SL24 owners would chime in here with a yes/no if they have the same problem.

Just an update on the Recall issue.
It will not work on Power On or when Recalling a Scene. Have to tweak the FX mix to the Aux's every time.
Tech support has been notified and have replied, but they just wanted know my firmware rev and if firewire was connected.

As a guitar player, forced to mix sound from stage, I'm learing new things about my SL everyday...
After playing with the Gate and Compression I now understand the Gain Reduction Meter!!!
Thanks Monolithent for correcting my assumptions.

There seems to be way too many problems being blamed on the power supply of the SL boards. I would think PreSonus would admit a design flaw and and recall the desks? New units, like my recently purchased SL24, should have this problem fixed, but I still see folks with new boards having the problems. I'll still use my board, but rather than sell my Mackie 1604, it will be my main backup for awhile.
Sucks to be this gun shy over a product that I love.

melodymaker you may have the right idea. I wouldn't mind building my own, but don't have the time right now. Although with the amount of time I've wasted searching the net, I could have built a couple of cases by now
I didn't think buying a mixer case could be so hard.
Thanks for the input everyone

Studio One General Discussion » Processing Power Required to use Studio One Live » Go to message
I watched a video today of Rick Naqvi recording a session with Studio 1 via the Studio Live Desk.

Durnig the recording session there were effects applied to the inserts of a few channels via firewire send/return, loops playing, a click track playing and a midi keyboard playing a Studio One Synth. Very impressive

The point of the video was to show how Studio One could be used to run backing tracks and apply effects in live preformances. It's scary enough for me, as a new SL24 user, wondering if my desk will suffer one of the nasty problems I read about on this forum. Add a PC/Mac to the mix aaaaaahhhh!!! Maybe I worry too much I used a lot of sequenced backing tracks in the 80's on an Atari computer, yes Atari 1040st on stage with my keyboards. We had to have songs ready for covering up Atari reboots after lockups. PC's have not got much better it seems. Mac's may be a different story. Problem now is, if the PC/Mac goes down.. so does the Desk. My question is, do you folks trust a PC/Mac running Studio One for your guitar rig, vocal effects, keyboard patches and loops in a live situation? What is the minimum PC/Mac configuration required to achieve this?

Thanks
Wally

Just an update on the Aux recall issue. Tonight I noticed the Firewire mix has the same problem on power up.
Aux mix shows a firewire level, but there is no sound until I tweak the firewire level encoder for the Aux. Again this is a power up issue, I have not tried an actual Recall of a Scene to see if it has the same problem. I assumed power up was the same as a Scene Recall.
Anyway.. I passed this along to Tech support this weekend.

1. Is anyone, other than JP and myself, having this problem with the SL24?

2. Is there somewhere on the PreSonus site that lists know issues? It would be great if PreSonus listed known bugs (not likely but it would show integrity), and workarounds, and if they are being worked on for the next update.

3. Is there somewhere on the PreSonus site that shows the current firmware version for all products? Mainly the SL24 for me

Thanks
Wally
