Studio One Forum Community Support » Sounds different tracking vs. playback? » Go to message
I'm on XP maybe you can help me out with what's the latest version of Studio One I can use? I set up my template and everything sounds great, then on playback it's as if it's not going through any buses...?

Anybody find a fix for this yet? Sometimes I'll get to almost the end of a song and sometimes it's right away. Nobody can work like this. How do I revert to an older version of Studio One?

I guess I'll add delay as an insert on every track then..

Ok so with XP support running out I've upgraded to Vista. I make a bus with EQ and stuff and it works fine. Then I make a separate bus with delay and it wont work. It only works if I put it as an insert on each track. What the heck? I've gotta be doing something stupid. I used to do this every time..
Digital Audio Recording » Best free sidechain compressor vst? » Go to message
Just upgraded to producer and I've been downloading loads of free vsts. What's some real good sidechain compressor vsts? I have the trial of "The Glue" and it's great but what can i get that's similar until I save that $100 to spend on it?
Studio One General Discussion » Is Multiband Dynamics better than Tricomp? » Go to message
I'm upgrading to producer soon and I'm wondering if the Multiband dynamics plugin is any better than the Tricomp. I don't like the sound of Tricomp. I'll be getting third party plugins anyway but I'm just curious.

Okay, back to studio one now. I'll be upgrading to producer in the next couple of weeks. I'm just gonna' buy a Waves pack and maybe the Izotope plugin for mastering. I do have to say, though, Reaper is good.

Are you aware of any plugins that are similar to the beat delay of s1? I guess I could drag the tracks from reaper into studio one then back into reaper but I'd rather just do things from one daw.

I'm having a hard time finding a beat delay plugin that I like. I've recently moved over to reaper, is there any way to get studio ones beat delay in there?

Thank you, I'll have a look.

I'm sure this has been covered before but, just to make sure it's up to date, what are your favorite free 3rd party plugins? I have no idea where to start. I'm not looking for anything too crazy just the basic EQ, compression, room reverb, and some beat delay. I like to have something visually appealing so I can hear what needs to be done and then see what I am changing. Thanks.
Digital Audio Recording » Studio one in Ubuntu? (Linux) » Go to message
I installed Ubuntu through windows to try it out and loved it. Has anyone had success using Studio One on it? I understand that I'd have to do it through WINE but I just want to make sure before I make a boot CD and get rid of windows. When I tried it out the audiobox worked fine for playback, but I just can't get rid of Studio One for something like Ardour or some other linux based DAW. I'm throwing this audiobox out once i get the Focusrite interface I've been looking at if it makes any difference.

Any info or input is appreciated

Scott

I prefer not to loop record, and rather just record individual takes from left to right. This way when I have as many takes as I see fit I can listen to them individually, for a set duration of time, and pick the best one for that duration of time. For example: lets say I have three takes...I should be able to line up the beginning of the takes and listen to (we'll say for this example) every four bars. The second take is the best for the first four bars, that stays. Now we promote that to the top and nothing needs to be moved since everything has been adjusted right from the beginning. Now we move on to the "audition" for the next four bars, ect.

By the range tool I meant that when u move the cursor over one of the layers it automatically becomes the tool for selecting and promoting sections to the top.

Thanks
