You should be able record to computer via Dante without needing any other hardware at all apart from an Ethernet cable, so no need for Firewire or Thunderbolt as well...

I've been using it for some singles up to now, and personally I love it, particularly the Facebook integration, which is spectacular. Haven't tried using it for tickets and merchandising yet, but even just using it for downloads it's definitely worth it.

Disclaimer: I work for PreSonus, so I may be prejudiced, but hell, I'm just happy that I'm able to sell my music

Possibly, but live web streaming at the level that we had at NAMM requires at least two full-time operators and a considerable amount of expensive equipment, so if we do do any live webcasts from Europe they will probably be considerably scaled down for the time being.

Good to know that people want them though!

This will be a new one for us, so not really sure yet what we're planning, but we'll be there demo-ing and making music one way or the other!

More to be added in the next weeks as we finalise some of our plans for PreSonus Europe 2012!

Studio One General Discussion » Speak up if you genuinely like Ampire XT. » Go to message
I really like Ampire XT. I still use Guitar Rig and Studio Devil a lot, but I'm finding that in a mix Ampire really does the business. I think a lot of people are trying it on its own and thinking it sounds thin, but in a mix it shines (and that's what counts).

I do think you need to use some kind of decent preamp with it to get the best out of it. I normally plug guitars straight into a PreSonus Studio Channel (Blue Tube works well too), and then take that into the desk and record it completely clean. That way I can play with the sound during the mix stage later, and try as many amp plugins as I feel like without holding the guitarist back while I experiment. I have almost every guitar sim going, and these days it usually boils down to either Studio Devil or Ampire XT, or a combination of both, depending on playing style and musical genre.

Of course I let the guitarist monitor his playing with whatever he feels comfortable with, which might mean putting a plugin into his phones, or splitting the signal into a Pod or something. Whatever works so he feels comfortable.

If you don't have an iPhone already, you can use an iPod Touch instead and save yourself some money.

Eike is the man. Great plugs.

Seconded. That's a killer plugin for buss compression.

I personally don't even use my Waves plugins for mastering client material anymore. I may use the L2 to boost a bit of volume sometimes but not often. Now that I'm getting a grip on the Studio One multi-band compressor, the L2 may collect dust as well.

Me neither. I use the Studio One plugins, coupled with some PSP EQs / Vintage Warmer and/or Brainworx stuff.

Yes, the FOH engineer can set any of the i-devices to "Ignore", or to just "Wheel" mode. Since every Aux bus also has a FAT Channel you can use the Limiter on it to help control any possible ludicrous volume changes.

But as someone pointed out, if the musician turns the Wheel up to 11, it just lowers the volume of the rest of the band in his monitor, so should not be a problem
Studio One General Discussion » Presence...usage amongst the user base... » Go to message
I use it a lot, but these days mainly with the Digital Sound Factory Soundfont libraries, because I'm an old-school E-mu user, and it's great having all the classic Proteus, Mo'Phat and Emulator 4 sounds. And no conversion required, they work perfectly out of the box.
