Also...
Where does the Master fader go? (Or "Mix Bus"). Is that supposed to be set at 0 or -6, -12, or what have you?

Or do you?

I was watching a mixing video where the guy doesn't even mention it.

I've seen another short clip where they take an EQ that has a gain dial, and set it so that that peaks are at 0 or -6, with the mixer fader set to Unity.
Digital Audio Recording » Mixing videos - The paid series kind » Go to message
Does anyone have experience with any "How to Mix" video series? More of the 'purchased training' kind, and not so much the Youtube clips.

Are there any that are really good?
Or is mixing the kind of thing you really need a mentor for?
All Other PreSonus Hardware » Eris E5 - Is not translating well to any other speaker system » Go to message
Yep, i should probably hook up a sub.

The drums are consistently louder and more boomy when played on another system, than they appeared to be through the Eris.
If I have that in my mind and compensate slightly too much, then the drums disappear on the other systems. (Except for the overheads)

Im working on learning how to carve out everything I don't need on every other instrument - to see if it's just a phase thing or a massing up of a frequency.
Digital Audio Recording » Eris E5 - not translating well, at all ... » Go to message
I've done several basic mixes, using the E5, and the levels are not translating when I play the mixes on other systems.
Especially the drum levels - theyre always wildly off.

Any ideas?
Is this a known issue?

Digital Audio Recording » Er... Tempo change with foreign files » Go to message

I just checked a little and found that I could IF
I right-click the file importedm there it shows 'File Tempo; not set' I double clicked that and set a tempo ie 120 for this
Now that file is set to that tempo and will react when you change the tempo or the song
Doon't know if there are easier ways, I'm sure there is

Yes!
That works beautifully, and is fast enough for me.
(You can Shift-Click to do a group at once.)

Thanks.

IF you are sent .wav files and you drag them into S1, can you adjust the tempo on those, or just the wav files that originated in the daw?

Yes. In my mind you need to strip it down to just the interface and it's monitor outputs and go from there.
As far as the kick drum anomalies - you might try some test recordings with the kick mic plugged into a different input. Use the same mics.
It's possible that there's a problem with a channel.
Digital Audio Recording » Best processor / CPU for Studio One 2 ?? » Go to message
AMD has performed like a champ for me - I would expect no less of the new line.
Look at the intel 'haswell' processors as well.

This is a guess, but it sounds like a routing issue.
Monitor signal is coming out pre Insert ?

For me, I use Asio4all and my buffer to 128 and just monitor with monitors straight out of the interface.

If you can, eliminate everything but the interface.

Got to the 1:46 mark
'Legible' words come before the words come.
I got turned on the reverse vocal swell trick, but this is different. And extreme.

What would you suggest for an expander setting?
(stock Studio One expander)
Digital Audio Recording » Should I chop up the drums or not » Go to message
Thanks for all the responses.

Sigh of relief to know that I'm not crazy... (At least in this)

So is it safe to say that stripping bleed is more for if drum replacement is needed?

The only thing I didn't like about the blood is when I added a bus for the toms to experiment with inserts - it effect the sound of the other drum tracks. Otherwise it sounds better to me and I don't have to spend 23 hours cleaning tracks.
Digital Audio Recording » Should I chop up the drums or not » Go to message
As far as removing all the ambient noise that the mics pic up.
Other drums bleeding in on the snare track, or toms, etc.

I tried it, but left the overheads alone.

To me it didn't sound as full or as warm...
