Studio One General Discussion » Is S1 Getting an Anniversary Update? » Go to message
Johnathan, please just give us a yes or no (more info would be welcome, however) . Are we getting a feature-oriented update in time for S1's 1 year? If not, anything substantial coming out soon?

Daniel_TinSpirits wrote:I bought an Audio Box, its brilliant, with it came Studio One Artist, it is also brilliant
with it also came Guitar Rig 3, also great
BUT it doesn't work with studio One Artist as a plug in
I have been tearing my hair out trying to work out why but it seems there is no vst tab
so can someone confirm for me that the vst version of guitar rig 3 will not work worth studio one artist?
just seems strange that they would include free software that is incompatible with Studio one artist

any thoughts appreciated

S1 Artist doesnt support VST plug ins, except those included.. its one of its major limitations. you have to upgrade to S1 Pro to enable plugins

this has been requested so many times im sure PreSonus is actively looking into this. It may not come soon (hope it does), but i would be surprised if they decided against it. btw, the guy in the Logic video is one of the most annoying commentators ive ever heard. how many times did he say "ive input a C2 note" in a row?

shop around mate, BestBuy are thieves. id suggest checking out NEWEGG.com for everything and anything computer related. if your computer-savvy, try going custom, youll get a much better machine at a much better price
Studio One General Discussion » Does disable QuickTime in settings completely disable video-code? » Go to message
question might be a bit technical, but if i select 'Disable' for QuickTime support in settings, does it completely disable the video code, as if its not there? meaning, if i disable it, will it be like PreSonus never added video at all to S1, or will it still impact the code base?

AudioCave wrote:My request is to not get into an arms race and try to throw everything but the kitchen sink into Studio One and ruin it.

I'd rather see a long, slow ascent towards something that keeps the spirit intact along the way. Easy, fun, powerful.

thats pretty much PreSonus' philosophy (in theory and practice), only time will tell if they sell out or not. the only thing that could be interpreted as "selling out" at this point was the inclusion of video, which was added because they realized if they wanted to truly compete with the big DAWs, they needed video support. other than that, i dont see PreSonus bending to towards the stagnant DAW scene - after all, their entire sales pitch is about how different they are. PreSonus, please keep S1 LEAN AND MEAN!

Madfloyd wrote:The overall workflow of S1 is its strength, no doubt about it. That said, there are some issues that are very annoying and stand out because most of the workflow is superb. Pardon me if I'm repeating myself or anyone else with these:

- When you zoom in on the arrange view, it should center around the current time marker. I use the mouse method (left click and hold while mouse is over time marker) and I usually first click to position the time marker on the area I want to zoom in on. However, S1 doesn't seem to take this into account, and most of the time my song marker is off screen, causing me to re-position the horizontal view.

- Punching in should use RECORD, not play. Not only is that more intuitive and consistent with other sequencers, but there's a good reason for it! With S1, you have to turn on punch, hit play, perform, stop, turn OFF punch, play (to review), then turn ON punch again to record another take. What a PITA!

- Mute and ARM buttons are too simliar. You can't see at a glance which are which. Distinguish them somehow using size and/or color.

- When you hit the ZERO key to go back to a marker, the view often presents the current time marker at the very left of the screen. This makes it very difficult to ascertain that you are, in fact, at the desired position. It would be more 'natural' to scroll the screen a little bit more, allowing the user to see some of the time 'before' the position.

- When dragging an effect (in mix view) from one channel to another, allow the mouse to scroll the screen horizontally (like you can do in arrange window). This would allow me to drag from one channel on screen to another off screen (by causing auto-scroll).

- Speaking of dragging an effect from one channel to another, since we're effectively making a copy of the effect, it might be better to not pop up the plugin (chances are the fact that I'm copying it means I like the settings). This would make it much faster to copy effects to multiple destinations. If I want to review the settings I can double click on the effect name.

- In the arrange window, if my mouse is over the track name area, but not over something like the volume, please allow me to scroll the tracks up and down.

That's it for now. More to come. Keep up the great work!

i agree, recording should be much simpler

Yes, thanks a lot!
In the meanwhile, I changed the name of the .dll file and it works.

ues, but some (like PLAY) wont work if you change the .dll name.. ive tried to change PLAY's name (i think its something like play_x64_plugin or something like that) but to no avail

In my case everything went right...
My original Pianos .dll file was "play_VST": I've changed it to "EW Pianos" to better find it in the Browser and it works perfectly.

interesting, i spoke to EWQL's support and they said dlls couldnt be change and still function. ill try it again

Studio One General Discussion » More color settings for tracks ?? » Go to message
bobbybland wrote:Any chance S1 will get new color schemes for tracks, perhaps a blender to create our own colors for track settings??

Thanks

theres already a lot of colours to choose from, but im always for more customization. what id really like to see is to be able to change all the blue accents (volume marker, highlights, etc) to the colour of our choosing - even if its from the same palette as the track colours.

jonathan wrote:We watch the forums closely, and read everything here. Other users can comment on our speed of implementation, but in general, when a new request pops up, it goes in our system immediately...we have to prioritize, of course, but if we see an opportunity to easily accomplish what is being asked for, the request will show up in the next release (we release relatively often).

The 'larger'/more complex requests (ie; folder tracks), that are interrelated to other functions, etc...those take more time, and you can expect to see many of these in v2.0, but likely not before then.

I would argue we are one of the most receptive and pro-active DAWs, with our developers regularly participating in these forums directly, and this, among other things, will result in more frequent and useful updates (as well as bug fixes)...all in all, we aim to have the most stable and useful DAW ever.

No need to argue! You guys show it in practice, anyone who says otherwise just either hasn't experienced PreSonus' level of dedication and care for S1 or is one of those people that wont settle for less than instant-gratification. My only wish is that you guys continue this level of dedication and support from day 1, even when you guys truly make it big. Cant say thank you enough for bringing us this awesome DAW!

$300.00

Well, that ain't happenin!
I think the Presonus package was like $149.00 when my wife bought it.

which package? i heard that S1 Artist was bundled with Audiobox @ $149, but you still need to put down another 200 to upgrade to pro
Studio One General Discussion » ok, so tech support guy just bummed me out.. » Go to message
you can get Studio One at any music retailer, it goes for 399.95 USD. if your looking to get an interface as well, Presonus bundles S1 Artist and has a $200 upgrade to the Pro version, also a crossgrade offer for $300 if your coming from another DAW (you said your dropping Cubase, so your probably eligible)

full retail: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StudioOne/

crossgrade: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StudioOneCg/

mods - if posting retail links arent allowed, my bad!
