Really? Will have to check because that one particularly should meet all the relevant standards.

Nutti wrote:While on the mastering subject, here's a question for you.

yesterday I bought the slate digital fg-x mastering plugin and tested it on one of my songs in the project page. With no processing but the plugin on the master insert I got rms levels of about -15db in the plugin while s1 gave me about -11??

then after about 1 db compression and pushing the limiter gain up to about -9.5db the studio one meter gave me -5db rms?

Is the studio 1 meter just some visual crap and not correctly coded? I saw the same thing at vision studios youtube clip on mastering with 3rd party plugins here http://youtu.be/qdDfuckHdX4 at about 44:40 he has around -9 to -10 rms but about a minute later as he switches to another plug you can se that the rms meter is around -6db.

I also got info on another site about the TT DR meter plugin showing about 5db hotter rms than pro tools and logic. This confuses me and probably others if getting the knowledge of it...presonus metering systems are not to be trusted as a commercial standard?

There are actually two different definitions of RMS that differ in 3 dB (guess you can wiki this). Maybe that's part of what you're seeing. In any case, the K-metering in Studio One meets the "correct" standard (same as the RME metering, for example).

As some of you know I've been a fierce crusader against the loudness war for years.

Lately I'm more on the resigning side, though. I'll still try to convince my clients to let me master to K-14 or K-12, but I'm in no way as confident as Bob Katz himself who recently declared the loudness war (almost) "won".

Luckily people like Ian Shepherd are still out there keeping up the important work (http://dynamicrangeday.co.uk/, http://productionadvice.co.uk/blog/).

Michael1985 wrote:Kahlbert could you explain me please why there is a search function for samples?

The same sort of missing can occur with plugins.

It is not the "same sort" of missing, but that'll take a dev to explain.

Look, all I'm saying is: If an installed plugin is reported as missing - and if I have double checked my installation paths (32 vs. 64 bit, doubled plugins, configured paths in Studio One) - then I assume something is going pretty wrong.

Next up will probably be a crash (sounds familiar?).

So in this case I quit Studio One, quit other stuff that might be interfering, open Studio One up again, check my audio interface's buffer size (just in case), open up the one song again, and - boom - everything is working again.

If you have repeatedly missing plugins I suppose something is wrong, and - again - I suppose this feature would not help. I might be wrong, of course, but that's my opinion on the topic.

Try and click on the individual song in top left of page, and see if the song inserts are there.

This happens to me all the time!

(I mean that I don't have the song selected and wonder where the inserts are.)

Anyway, back to English ...

You can't "locate" single plugins. You tell Studio One where they generally are, and that's it.

Have you checked the "scan plugins on startup" option?

Short answer: this is not possible. Any plugin in your DAW will work after the ADC so you won't be able to prevent clipping, if that's what you have in mind.

Michael1985 wrote:If I want to work on my older projects or projects of my laptop, it is not possible because many of the plugins are missing and with it all its settings.

If there would be a search function or a location definer to tell Studio One, where the right location of the missing plugins are, we could work on older projects or projects from the laptop and finish them....

I don't understand. The location of a certain plugin is completely irrelevant as long as Studio One has this location in the settings.

Yes.

See, it's desired (by you or me) versus intended (by the developer), like LMike (and others) pointed out. You may call this semantics, I call it a significant difference.
