You can't unfortunately. I would love this function too. Although, off the record, rumour has it that the next major firmware upgrade for the SL16 supposedly brings the its functionality closer to the SL24's, which may include the extended Aux routing.

Really need our choir to hear the backing tracks without taking up a channel on the board...

Really need a bigger console, then, or to re-think your channel assignments. Perhaps there's something that only goes to the mains that you can bring in on the 2-track input or one of the Aux Returns A/B.

That's what we're doing, but currently we have sixteen dedicated inputs that we would like to record PLUS a CD deck for choral/special music. I'm planning on using a mic combiner if possible to submix two choir mics into one channel, which will free up the needed one, but I'm still waiting on confirmation that the StudioLive can supply enough current on a single channel to phantom power two small-diaphragm condenser mics without burning anything up. I'll worry about phasing issues after the power supply question is answered.

Just saying that it would be nice (if it's not a hardware limitation) to be able to route the tape-in to the aux sends.

only other thing i can think of is try getting a rca to xlr adaptor and run it thru the talk back mic chan. but doing this you can run it thru your aux's and mains

You won't burn anything up since phantom power is a current-limited source (it's in the IEC standard) but depending on the mics you have, there may not be enough current to power both of them. I assume that they're the same type, so at least they'll both get the same voltage, but the mics might not be happy with what they see. Connecting two mics in parallel really works better if they don't require phantom power.

You'd really be better off using a small mixer to submix some things, even if it's just two mics. You might want to think this through and see if you can come up with a better arrangement. What are you using all of those channels for? Do you have a bunch of mics on a drum set? That would be a good candidate for a submix. Or keyboards, if there are several. A $300 Behringer mixer probably wouldn't do you less harm that paralleling two mics and might give you more flexibility in your mixer layout.

Increase input count by linking SL up with other fire studio pre options or even another SL. If sub mixing, possibly look at the Allen & Heath ZED10 of ZED10fx. 4 mic/line inputs, 2 with Class A FET high impedance inputs, two stereo inputs, and the desk's outputs feature DI level switching for sub mixing.

HELLO PEOPLE, THE POINT OF THE QUESTION IS: IF WE GO TO THE ONLINE MANUAL OF THE STUDIOLIVE 16.4.2 THERE WE FIND A DIFERENT INFORMATION FROM THE PRESSED MANUAL THAT COMES WITH THE CONSOLE. GO LOOK THERE ON 4.4.3 Creating Analog Aux and FX Mixes - Aux Flip Mode PAGE 38 and 5.4 System Menu - Sub Out Delay PAGE 57. MYSELF, I DID STUDIED THE COMPLETE MANUAL BEFORE BUY IT, BECAUSE I LIVE FAR AWAY FROM USA AND ITS VERY EXPANSIVE FOR ME TO IMPORT AUDIO EQUIPAMENTS. NOW I WANT TO USE EXTERNAL EFFECTS AND CANT ROUTE THEM TO MY MONITORS. ALSO THE BUS GROUPS DOESNT HAVE THE DELAY FOR RIGHT PLACINNG OF THE SOUND. I HOPE PRESONUS WILL BE COOL ENOUGTH TO RECONIZE THE "MISTAKE" AND PRODUCES A FIRMWARE CAPABLE TO PUT THIS THINGS IN PLACE. AND FAST, PLEASE!! I TALK ALL THE BEST ALLWAYS ABOUT PRESONUS, SINCERELY AND I HOPE TO CONTINUE TO USE THIS BRAND, SO HELLO, PRESONUS, PLEASE, DO YOU PART, I LIKE YOU AND I DOING MINE. TAKE ACTION.

Take it easy, Johann.
First: please don't use capital writing. It looks like you are shouting.
Second: you're responding to a last year discussion. Latest post was march 2011. Aux Flip Mode didn't exist at that time on the 16.4.2.
Third: when you have a firmware request you can politely ask for it in a new forum discussion, but don't tell us that Presonus makes mistakes and doesn't do their part (of course Presonus makes choices that we can discuss, but hey: thats the fun bit of a forum).

Cheers,
Piet
