I wouldnt use these, but many people would. Im not sure presonus shoud add channel to channel digital ins though. One of the beauties of the SLs is their simplicity and functionality. I dont want to see a complex in and out routing matrix.

Then we start getting into layers.

Not sure I would like that in a non-motorized fader board . . . . .

All I want is an Ethernet port, to put it on a network and control it without having to hook up a laptop. Make the iPad app work in either mode.

Why can't we not keep it simple? I see proposals passing that completely ignore the concept of StudioLive, clear user interface and easy operation. And one of the key benefits, good value for money. We can think of silly things but then will it not a be a real StudioLive....

I totally agree.

For the most part, it should operate like the SL24 and the SL16 that I own. Extra features? Well...since it is a larger console...how about keeping it simple? My personal preference as an expansion to the SL24 (in order):

Total of 8 busses, and I think this one is important
Built-in "Driverack"
HPF filter on the Aux's -- is this one on the SL24 already?
Total of 12 or even 14 Aux's
Perhaps a total of 4 FX (2 can be internal, 2 can be external if need be)
individual L and R faders for master
Perhaps a MONO fader as well

I'd also refine some of the late additions...such as that double tap button stuff. I don't much care for it. Otherwise, I don't really see the need to recreate this console.

They secretly added this one into the 1.13 update for the SL16 too. It was a nice surprise!

Huh? That would use a lot of channels of your multi. I run 2x 4-way (high, mid and 2 subchannels per side for cardioid sub setup), so that would require 8 channels from the multi. I prefer running a single channel to each amprack (left+right). Don't try to incorporate the full driverack functionality in the SL because if you really use all the functionality you'll put one (or more) in your amprack(s).

Even a simple (mono) sub output isn't needed, because most (active) subs have a built-in crossover.

Mixer: Presonus SL24 + MacBook Pro + analog multi with 108p Harting,
Mics: Shure drumkit, SM58's, SM57's, AKG DMS70 wireless + some others.
Everything flight-cased in SA-blue cases. Heavy stuff...

That is a good point, maybe that could warrant not having a crossover in the SL32.

Concerning the Sub out, I was just thinking in terms of all those who favor running the subs through an Aux. You could possibly have your assignable groups per channel -- Group 1 through 8, Stereo (L+R) and then mono. That way you could eliminate the aux fed subs and just use the mono fader.

I really like the idea of a "center/mono/sub" output switchable for all the aux fed sub folks, and the mono is the only way to run sound folks, and the I need a center channel folks.

Also, a way to make it into a real monitor mixer.

Also, S1 integration using plugs live.

Also, agree about having a cat5 connection so as to not have to plug a laptop in to make the remote iPad app work.

I have zero need to have motorized faders. I generally leave my faders at -inf all night as I mix throughout the house while the hardware 'lives' behind the speakers at the side of the stage.

I also agree that there should be a USB port to load a preset into a mixer. If I need to load a band into another desk, I don't want to have to plug my laptop into someone's mixer. I may not be able to. And that brings up the point of being able to set up a mix OFFLINE in UC, save it, and use it without having to plug into the mixer via firewire.

my 0.02 worth.

Oh yes, and BALANCED XLR outputs for the aux sends, not pseudo balanced. What does that even mean? If TRS, then they should be balanced. People have snakes. And snakes rarely have 1/4". At least semi-pro and up don't.

I'll be at NAMM on the 19th!

Maybe I'll post an update from the show as to what I see.

Better interface options beyond FireWire are at the top of my list. More and better options for remote control.
