Holy crap!! They need to put something next to the boxes in the pictures to give a better sense of scale. That verison 2 box must be the size of an oven!

Don't let the cat out of the bag. We've waited this long, let Presonus do it the way they want to....
Then they shouldn't have shipped the product 3 weeks in advance to the likes of Guitar Center! Hell, Apple and video games makers are pretty successful with keeping the wraps on products until their release!

Wrong!
Video game makers have the same problem all the time. Gamestop (being the Guitar Center of video games) is notorious for putting things on the shelves days before releases. EA actually had it out in court with them over one case of early release. And Apple...well...lets just say apple hardware testers probably shouldn't leave their "top secret" devices in local bars: http://www.fastcompany.com/1621516/iphone-leak-iphone-4-apple-gizmodo
Just because there are early leaks, doesn't mean we shouldn't respect Presonus' intent.

They did a pretty good job with the release of Gears Of War 3! I don't see how you can compare the theft of an Apple employee with this scenario!

I think, you where the ones that where speculating for more than a month and getting every bit of leaked information from invitations, forums, reinterpretation of presonus posts... and now that there is something out from purple, you all go back and say... "we will remain faithful, we'll keep our eyes clean until the release day..." jejeje
ok, I agree that when we finally receive the official announcement with all the videos and bell and whistles and even Jolly Rangers we all be glad that we waited... but... is not a contradiction ?? speculating ok but real info is not???
but about my 2 cents... let's let presonus do it their way... LONG LIVE PRESONUS

PreSonus don't appear to mind discussion about some of the already leaked features (which is very nice of them to allow) but....I think they also understandably want to make the full announcement themselves. It's only a few days from now

As already mentioned, video games are released early ALL THE TIME. So are DVDs. Apple probably has their lawyers specifically keeping tabs on every single store releasing their products, but I would guess that one or two still get through sometimes. Apple are a bigger company with much more strict rules on release dates, pricing, etc. Plus, Apple won't allow activation or registration of those items before release anyways, so it's pointless for a store to release a product early.
Regardless, Presonus likely have contracts in place with all retailers. Why wait until the release day, now that info has been released? Because it's unfair to allow one store to take advantage of Presonus when others are following the rules. Distribution channels, authorization servers, proper support channels(including all training of support reps), etc. all need to be in place for a product release.
It isn't as easy as saying they shouldn't have shipped it. When you have a product rollout, it's very common to ship items early. I used to work for a sporting good store, and we would get the new Jordans a couple of weeks ahead of time. It has to be that way to avoid issues with shipping and to avoid some stores getting things late.
So a store or two slipped, and some features slipped out. That's just the way it goes unfortunately, and it doesn't mean the entire marketing and distribution setup should be abandoned.
(this post wasn't really a full response to you, but just general.)

If anything I would also add that PreSonus have actually done extremely well to avoid further problems with leaks. It must be next to impossible to manage on such a large scale.
