Request One

Everybody has several Feature Requests or wishes things worked a bit differently in Studio One. I've seen many videos and diagrams in the "featured request" section which are really great, but what I'm interested in knowing here is.. forget the many requests you've made for a second and ask yourself what is that one thing you want in Studio One that you don't have? Over everything else, what is that one feature request that's sitting on the very top of your list? The one thing that bothers you? or the one thing you wish you could change? whatever that "one thing" is... that is your Request One.

RULES TO THE GAME...

1.) It's called Request One for a reason. - you get ONE and only ONE request! You can always "edit" your Request One, but you can't post more than one request. However, if your Request One gets added in a Studio One future update, you get your Request One back.

2.) Try not to reply to anyone's request unless it is a feature that already exists in Studio One. (we can then delete the post. and keep it clean. hopefully the moderators can help us out a little bit with this.) And of course you get your Request One back. The purpose of "no replying" is so that the list can be organized, direct, stay on topic and easy to follow.

3.) You can only request once. which means do not everyone else's request. That's cheating. Remember it's Request One... you only get ONE request…If your request already exists then Request One for the same. for example if your Request One is the ability to "freeze tracks" and someone else already has it, then "freeze tracks" should appear twice.

4.) If someone from Presonus says your Request One will never happen or is pretty much impossible then you get your Request One back.

PURPOSE OF THE GAME

This will obviously bring awareness to the developers allowing them to see what's at the top of everyone's personal list. It doesn't matter how big or small your Request One may be. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference and can have an affect on your workflow.

So here's the question...

What is the very ONE thing you want to add or change in Studio One? What is your Request One?

Here is my Request One:

Add *TOGGLES* to three zoom commands/features that are ALREADY in Studio one. I am aware that there is a "toggle zoom" and an "undo zoom" command... however for some reason I always end up getting lost and/or tangled up in what I'm trying to do. Adding a toggle to these 3 commands will make it so easy and simple to get in/out which will greatly improve the workflow.

1.) Zoom to Loop - make this toggle
2.) Zoom to Selection - make this toggle
3.) Zoom to selection horizontally - make this toggle

And finally I would like to add "Toggle Zoom to fit selection or All Contents" - this feature is in Logic and is pretty basic, but something I've become pretty dependent on. (it's logic's default "z" key command)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see these 3 commands toggle...

A key command and feature for "zoom to selection toggle"

zoom to selection *toggle*

"zoom to selection" is already a feature, but I REALLY think it should toggle. it would work pretty much the same… you would "zoom to selection" and then you could (toggle) hit the same key/command and it will take you right back (zoom out) to where you were before instantly. zoom in and zoom out. (toggle) - it works this way in other daws as well. logic being one of them.  yes there is a zoom toggle, but that is different than "zoom to selection."

There is a 'undo zoom' command (Alt + W). In combination with 'zoom to selection' it works like a toggle.
Try Alt + S or Shift + S for zoom in and after that Alt + W for zooming out again. Works great for me.

I would also like to change the colors of the user interface.

Automation Clips/Events(like midi events but with automation in it) for a better handling of complex automation curves.
It's time to put that ancient Cubase automation line method behind

Option to collapse all tracks sent to a bus or group or fx channel. Currently, it can be a pain in the proverbial trying to quickly find a track I might need. If I could collapse a group that I'm not working on, it would mean less scrolling on the mixer or even the track view, looking for a specific track among dozens.

EDIT: Thanks Motoko. I didn't know that.

You can create different screen sets in the mixer, showing only specific channels. Right click on a bus to hide/show the source channels in the mixer.

So the mixer is already pretty much covered in this aspect. It would be great to have it in the arrangement as well.

My biggest wish is a resource assignment like Pyramix`s MassCore Technologies. So I´m shure we dont need a freeze function in S1...

...but now...

...the most important for a S1 pro-step forward is a large support of the Euphonix protocol...

My request one is that no request gets such high priority that it supersedes - even temporarily - the original concept, easy and fun to use.

Well, I've mentioned it before, but to play the game:

A true "insert" function, where all of the data following a paste gets pushed back in time.

#1 for me, above all else, is a real, proper freeze function!

One that will freeze the track, and then turn off the plugin and ALSO free up any RAM that it might be using.

I use Kontakt with large sample libraries, sometimes several tracks / instances per song, and this would be a HUUUUGE workflow improvement for me. That is the only thing stopping me from switching from Sonar over to S1 permanently. I much prefer S1's workflow, but freezing is essential for what I do!

I know there are workarounds for turning off the plugin, but it DOES NOT unload it from memory, so it still gobbles up the RAM.

One button to freeze the track, and another one to unfreeze it. I would then kiss Sonar goodbye for good!

oh thats easy

Loop mangling and editing like in Live but better with audio warp, envelopes, looping, slicing, rearranging, midi triggering etc

if this was implemented today I'd drop and forget every other DAW I do and used to use in a heart beat
