I'm pretty set on buying the Firestudio Mobile to use for recording my band on my Macbook Pro. Probably recording 1-5 track at once.
The thing is, there are so many threads on the Presonus forum complaining about these (syncing problems, audio clicks, droputs)

So I'm just wondering, is there anyone here who doesn't experience any problems with theirs?
What's the status on the current driver for Mac? Are they working well?

Its just that the store that I'm going to be buying it from doesn't have a return policy, I can only exchange it, so yeah, I need as much info as I can get, and from what I have read online, they seem to have a LOT of problems

My Macbook specs are: 2.6Ghz i7, 4GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.6.4

Cheers guys

The folks with the bulk of the prblems are us poor Windows folk who can't afford them shiny fancy apple books.

The macs are actually pretty soilid. There are rarely any problems that aren't user generated. You can buy with a good level of confidence.

Macs are usually ready to go right out of the box. Don't let the bad press fool you. The messages you're seeing are spread across the entire spectrum of Firestudio devices and really only represents a small percentage of users. Many are happy and content with their devices connected to a macbook.

Your word of the week...microcosm (thanks wesley, I've been waiting for a chance to use that in conversation).

Most of the issues were resolved in early 2010 when PreSonus released snow leopard support for the Firestudio line. Make sure to download the latest drivers.

If your store has had the unit in stock a long time it might need a firmware upgrade. Make sure it includes the Studio One Artist disk. If not then maybe you should get it online from some place with a return policy.

Hi nowtaps: just a quick word of advice/warning, the vast majority of forum posts for any product (ours or any of our competitors) is going to be from people who are having some issues with their gear. It can be really frustrating when you're researching products, because, if you just look at the forums, every product out there doesn't work as advertised
