I have a Firestudio (2626) and I'm considering getting a Firestudio Mobile so I can daisy chain and thus, still use the legacy Firestudio.

Is this possible?

Page 34:

http://www.presonus.com/uploads/products/2324/downloads/FireStudioProject_OwnersManual_EN.pdf

Shows a FireStudio Project (10x10) and FireStudio (26x26) daisy chained for 36 inputs and 36 outputs.

Directly from the manual:

Universal Control allows you to connect up to four FireStudio Projects or to connect any member of the FireStudio family of interfaces with any other. Once you have installed the Universal Control and FireStudio- family driver on your computer, no further installation is required for any FireStudio product to connect to your system.
PreSonus supports the connection of up to four devices or a limit of 52 inputs and outputs (whichever comes first) to any one system at a time. However, the ability to use more than two units simultaneously depends on your computer’s specifications and optimization.

All members of the Firestudio series can be daisy chained. However, earlier legacy firewire interfaces
such as the FP10, Firebox and Inspire cannot be daisy chained with Firestudio units.

@cristofe, @MWright137:

Thx for this info. I think I'd read that somewhere but I suppose I'm hesitant because they also write that one must sync each piece of gear separately before cascading.

If that's the case, how would I be able to sync a piece of gear which isn't supported in Mavericks? If I can sync it to begin with, couldn't I also simply use it directly?

Does my question make sense?

p.s. I'm going to connect my 2626 to see if Universal Control recognizes it even tho it's not supported in Mavericks...

The units have to be on the same version of UC, IIRC. You probably won't be able to sync the 2626 with the current version of UC for the mobile. The mobile should work with the old version of UC needed for the 2626.

@matthewgorman:

Thx for your response.

I fired up my 2626 and connected to my MB Pro running Mavericks. I was able to see the 2626 in System prefs and also when I opened Logic, I had lots of inputs and outputs to choose from. (Is this all that really matters? Or is the UC important to that process?)

The current UC, as you suggest, wasn't able to see the 2626. I was under the impression that the previous version of UC wouldn't work on Mavericks...

Is this the case?

Tomorrow, I'll test my 2626 with the previous version of UC to see if that even loads in Mavericks.
