When does the trial period start?

I just bought an iMac, and I'm deciding on my DAW soon.
I'm going to download trial versions of the programs on my short list and try them out, but I want to wait until the interface I ordered comes in. My question is, does the clock on the trial period start ticking as soon as I download the version, or does it wait until I install/register/use it?

You can download any time you want
The 'clock only starts when you install it, so you should be all safe there
