How to import audio without automatically time strecthing it to the song's tempo.

Hi,

I'd like to know how to import audio files (from Pro Tools) without Studio One automatically time stretching them to the song's tempo. I'd like to preserve the original length/tempo of the audio files. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pure resampling (aka making a sample slower/faster without stretch) is not available in S1, just in case you wondered. Well at least we discussed that and no one knew.

If you want samples to not follow the song tempo automatically you need to go to the songs settings and disable the respective checkbox.

Hmmmm despite having "Stretch audio files to song tempo" unchecked in the song setup, any audio file I import still ends up getting stretched. The little icon appears in the lower left corner of the audio files. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have this happen too (although it's the other way around) sometimes. Can't seem to figure out why. I have stretch to tempo enabled but samples are still imported into the project at their original speed.

I'm on OS X (10.8.5) too. As it's usually just something I need to adjust once I've learned to live with it.

DId you guys tried disableing/enabling (accordingly) the metronome icon in the browser at the moment of import?

I think I know what's going on here. If the audio files sample and bit rates do not match the song, it appears that Studio One is time stretching regardless of "stretch audio files" checkbox being unchecked.

Well, I guess that's one of the things Presonus has to tackle for a next version.

Most importantly for me are:

1) Ability to not stretch at all (resample)

2) Fix the god damn video player crash bug for once and for all.

3) Make the UI accelerated....compare it to FL studio's UI and you'll see what ure missing.

4) Fix render inconsistencies

5) Make realtime playback better, right now is jerky compared to what you hear when rendering. Most noticeable on big orchestral setups.

6) Make the order of the channels on the mixer independent from the channels in the timeline, that alone is pretty bad.

7) Improve the piano roll a bit

8 ) Having two rows of automation data below the piano roll is useless if they keep changing towards displaying the same data twice.

9) Fix the god damn forum which is a messssssssssssss

Also make sure that the new track that you drag the audio into has the Track Inspector Tempo Setting set OK. You want "Don't Follow"
