Hello guys,
I was wondering if it was possible for Presonus to install a fan inside the StudioLive 16.4.2 like there is inside the 16.4.2AI? I ask because my mixer gets severely hot after say 2 hours to the point where I have to turn it off. I already got it fixed after the Gain Reduction got stuck which was the product of overheating.
Considering it's name is Studio"live" it should atleast withstand a solid 2 and half hours of being turned on. Which mine will surely burn out after..
I would install one myself however, that would void the warranty which I still have

If not registered, do that. Then submit a support request.
I doubt they'd put a fan in it, but they should be able to get the heating under control.

They do get surprisingly hot on the bottom. My 24.4.2 had me really worried when I got it, but it continues on year after year without a single failure. I do try to keep some air movement under there just for good measure, but I think the base of the mixer is used as a heat sink for the power supply so it is designed to dump heat like that.
If it something unsafe that causes the board to shut down, obviously it needs fixing. But I do believe they are designed to be toasty on the bottom.

Yeah, I don't really know, my mixer's gain reduction got stuck a few months back and I believe it had to do with over heating. It sometimes gets so hot that I can't even put my hand on it anymore(At the bottom), at which point I proceed to turn it off...
