I am using an Icon I-creative controller to control the filter cutoff in Stylus RMX. They are linked and it is recording the automation but when I go to choose the parameter ( which is midi cc77 linked to Main filter frequency) for editing it is not showing up, thus I can't go in and edit this parameter. Any ideas what I can do?

You can add/remove automation parameters from the track header in arrange. Select the "A" button at the top of arrange to expose automation envelopes. Where you see the name of the parameter for a particular envelope, click that and you will see an "Add" option, and you can activate it from there. There is also an option in preferences to "Add Automation for Touched Parameters" option to automatically add them.

Thanks for the response. I've done what you said. And also ticked the "Add Automation for Touched Parameters" but although the automation choice is showing it is not the automation I have recorded, which is currently showing as a black line on the track.

You have to select the parameter prior to writing the automation. Also, make sure the track is set to "Read".

Is there any way to get rid of the previous automation, the one that I can't edit. So I can start again?

Same dialog as earlier brings you a box to add parameters. Just select the parameter from the right side and select remove.

trouble is this parameter is showing as a black line but is not showing in the parameters window. I think it may be showing the control parameter which is Control 7 but that is not showing anywhere either, even if I go to the add remove window.

Ah found it. In the editor section down the bottom where velocity, modulation etc. are on a tab labelled as 1mainfilterfreq

Beat me to it. It just clicked that you were really talking about midi data, not automation data.

Now you know how to handle both.

Yes, thanks for your help. Although I'm not quite sure how it became midi data and not automation data. I guess with a little experimenting I will work it out.

Your first post told us that, although it didn't click for me immediately. The fact that you had it writing on midi cc77 means the information was written in to the midi file for that track, no need to automate further after that. You would use traditional automation if you weren't using a controller.
