I'm just getting into remote mixing and will be acquiring a dual band wireless router that will only be used for this purpose and will travel with my mixer.

Is there a need/requirement/benefit for the router to be assigned an IP address? It will not be used with the internet .

Suggestions and help welcomed.

The router will not have an external IP address, but it will assign internal IP's to all devices connected to it. These are usually the 192.168.x.x variety for most users.
