I love the idea of using the Audiobox1818VSL + macbook as my mixer for live use.

A couple of questions:

1. Can I assign effects to all audio tracks/mics seperately as I would normally in a studio situation?

2. I'm running a macbook core2duo 4mg - Is latency an issue?

3. Can you give me an example of your live audiobox rig and any issues you came across?

Cheers

Yes, If you use Studio One as your DAW (i.e. Live Mixer)

Not if you use VSL. If you prefer Studio One (as I do), expect @10ms I/O latency at best.

The AB1818 has a very low Mains & Aux Output Level at + 10db.

See my below profile and let me know if you have any further questions.

I use the 1818 primarily for live (mixer) shows. (I have a 2011 MBP (pre USB3), with a hybrid HD and 8GB RAM).

I have two setups I use for two different performance situations. Since the most recent (yeah, sarcasm intended) mac driver updates, I have had NO trouble with the 1818 as a mixer. Prior to the updated drivers, there were volume issues, and a random "lockup" with the VSL software (terrible in a live setting).

Scenario 1 consists of a horn section using about half of the front inputs, a mix of dynamic and condenser mics. Straight thru VSL, using FAT channel effects, and two aux sends plus the mains. Latency, non-issue.

Scenario 2 involves using the 1818 along with Apple's MainStage software. For solo gigs, where back-tracks, different effects/midi patches are involved. Again, Latency is a non-issue.

Out from the 1818 to Series of Rack units, BBE Maximizer, A Feedback Suppressor, to Powered Mains and monitors.

I haven't delved into the iPad control software much, as I don't always have a wifi network available, but I am JUST learning about "travel routers" and curious about setting up a "personal" network to always have with me.

Anyone reading this have experience with those??
