Somewhat newbie here.
I have some songs without drum tracks on my iPhone that I would like to lay down drum tracks to. I can plug in my iPhone to tape in and here the recordings and can even go ahead and record the drums, but the input for the iPhone seems to be through the AUX inputs. I can actually go to Audio I/O setup and choose any of the Aux inputs and still here the music.
Problem is, it is also picking up the sound of the drums too and any other noise in the room. Any way I can isolate the input for the iPhone to JUST the phone without any other input?
Hope I'm asking the question right...
My sig below has all my info.
Thanks,
Mark

What is the source of these tracks? You may be better off pulling them from the iPhone to the computer and working from there...

Thanks for the reply. The tracks are just iTunes songs. When I had a 16.0.2 I think I remember actually having the tape in as an option for input. For the 16.4.2 though I don't see one.
What's strange for me is that I can hear the music but can't isolate it from other input sounds.
I guess my question is how do I treat the input from the iPhone like any other input? How do I match up channel to input?

I think I figured out what my real question is. How do I assign the tape input to a channel? For all other inputs, I.E 1 though 16 and all of the aux inputs I can assign them to a channel in Studio One, but how about the tape in?

I would not use the tape input... use a stereo channel in the mixer... but Mwright was right... just pull the tracks into your DAW and do it there... better faster stronger louder smarter way to do it... you are trying to make water run uphill otherwise!

Now, by using a stereo channel do you mean taking the iPhone wire, through a splitter, and then say, link channels 15 and 16?
I got a balanced 1/4 inch cable and plugged it in to channel 16. Got a great sound from one side...
Do I need to split the signal using the line in jacks and then link the inputs? Or through one of the AUX inputs?
Thanks for all of your help!

Yes, but that's just so EQ & Dynamics are always the same. I've actually caused confusion with linked mute buttons.
People that have used analog mixers will try to use two fingers and hit both L & R mute buttons at the same time. The mixer basically unmutes and immediately mutes again with the second press.
If you can handle pressing one mute button instead of two, then go linked.
