I'm thinking about buying an AudioBox 22 VSL, but I have two questions first.
1. Is this device class compliant ("driverless") on OSX?
2. Does the standard volume control stuff in OSX (ie. keyboard shortcuts) control the volume of the output?
3. The Presonus site has drivers for OSX. Given that the hardware is class compliant, what is this for? Eg. do I lose any functionality if I just plug in the unit and don't install anything?
Thanks!

1. Yes.
2. Probably but I never tried. It has a volume knob right on the front.

Let me know what you come up with. I had a client test on his Mac and it didn't. He has an older OS. I'll be interested to hear what yours does.. Thanx.

2. No. It controls the Mac sounds. If you have Mac sounds routed to the AudioBox, then it might change them. But I was changing volume with the shortcut keys and heard the volume clicks on my laptop while running Studio One through my AudioBox.
3. The drivers allow VSL functionality at least. Not sure if there's more to it than that. So you can't do VSL without installing the drivers.

Being new and all I thought I would add the VSL is Virtual Studio Live, and it ADDS functionality... It adds a mixer, and efx and integration into Studio one...Just make sure you have a computer that has USB 2.o.. I would carefully research which computers work and which do't at this time to avoid frustration.
