I'm using the FireStudio Mobile with Sony Acid, and I'm wondering why, for my playback options, I have three output pairs:

FireStudio Mobile DAW 1/FireStudio Mobile DAW 2
FireStudio Mobile DAW 3/FireStudio Mobile DAW 4
and
FireStudio Mobile DAW 5/FireStudio Mobile DAW 6

And likewise on the Firestudio mixer screen I have DAWs 1-6. The Firestudio Mobile has a lot of inputs which is great, but doesn't it only have one output pair? Back to the device? What would I use 3-6 for?

My guess:

MaIn out L/R
S/PDIF L/R

Headphone out L/R?

Direct from the FireStudio Mobile product page:

The FireStudio Mobile Mixer provides three independent, stereo output mixes: one each for the mains, headphones, and S/PDIF.

I just flipped through my owner's manual. I found the same statement. Perhaps that's what it is, but I still find it confusing. When I'm listening to playback, and the "Main" tab is active in the Firestudio mixer, the meters for DAW 1 and DAW 2 are active. When I switch to the "Phones", the meters for DAW 1 and DAW 2 are still the active ones, not DAW 3 and DAW 4 like I was expecting. So that makes me wonder, what is the point of DAWs 3-6?

I just did a quick experiment. I went into Acid preferences and went to the Audio Device tab. I changed the outputs to DAW 3&4. No change. I heard the playback, but the meters in the Firestudio mixer were still showing DAW 1&2 as active... Weird...

Okay, I just did another quick experiment. I brought up Sound Forge and went to the Audio properties tab. I unchecked DAWs 1-4, leaving only 5&6 active. That finally caused the meters for 5&6 to activate in the Firestudio mixer.
