Putting the meters on outputs and there is still signal coming thru , i have tried turning the key filter off, and compressor off, changing the "range" up and down.

When a threshold is set to the highest setting I expect the gate to be closed. The quietest sounds still come through . What am I missing? it seems to work sometimes and not others???

Double check that the gate is actually set to "gate" instead of "expander" in the system menu (if memory serves me)

I did that but now I am wondering about the range. I want to turn the range all the way up and test again. that would explain it too. Also once I get the gate working as expected, wouldn't hitting the expander still work ok, I mean still have no sound until the threshold or is there more to it. Thansk for your reply, I am having a ball with this darn thing and my sons band.

Sorry if I'm a few weeks late to this, but I can say that on my 32AI the output meters act a little weird at times.

I'd recommend selecting a channel in question and just watching the master meter section up top where it has the selected channel level.
