Logic X recording latency

Okay, so this is weird. Logic X used to work just fine with no recording latency at all, but recently, when I record a track, SOMETIMES the audio ends up being delayed on the timeline by about 1/8 of a second or so - but sometimes it doesn't, even recording to the same track in the same project multiple times. This happens whether Logic's in low latency recording mode or not, or whether the FireStudio is in low latency vs. normal vs. safe mode.

Has anyone else run into this issue, and can anyone figure out the rhyme or reason and, ideally, a fix?

This only started happening recently as far as I know, and I've made sure I'm running the latest drivers and firmware. The only thing that's changed in my setup is I've installed the iPad Logic Remote but this happens whether my iPad is connected or not.

Thanks.

Sounds like a recording sample delay. I had a similar problem once and resolved it by going into the Logic Preferences, Audio, then under the devices core audio section there was a recording delay which I changed to zero.

It isn't, though - one take will be fine, the next take will be consistently delayed by half a second, with absolutely no change in preferences.

I can get a few more non-delayed takes by going into Universal Control and setting the device to "Safe Mode" then back to "Low Latency" but that only lasts for so long. And of course I don't know if a take will have been delayed until after I finish recording it, and usually that happens on my good takes so I end up just manually realigning it to the timeline like it's 1997. Very frustrating.

It never did this on Logic 9 or earlier, but it's possible that there's a driver-level change that's at fault too.
