Hopefully I'm doing something dumb. I'm working with over 50 tracks and the track listing in the track list window does not match up, order wise, to the console window. As an example, I have a group of guitars in a guitar folder near the top (tracks 4 to 7 in the track list view), but in the console window it show them near the bottom (track 40 to 43) . Very confusing, has it something to do with the use of folders?
thanks

There is the track list at the top left and also another channel list (which looks like a track list) down the bottom to the left of the mixer channels.

Changing the track order is best done using the upper track list at the top.

Right down the bottom of that track list are some icons which show and hide certain types of tracks. To the very right there is a link icon. Click on that so it is lit. (blue)

Whatever you do now to the track order in the top list should happen on the main arrange window and in the console. Showing or hiding tracks will also be reflected everywhere.

Unclicking this link icon allows you to hide tracks in some areas and show them in others which is sometimes desirable.

Thanks for Jemusic for the link icon info. That solves one problem. But I'm still confused when folders are involved. let me illustrate. Have the link button activated. I currently have four tracks named 1, 2, 3 and 4 all in order. I introduce a folder track after track 4. I then put tracks 1 and 2 into the folder track. Now the track list window displays the following order Tracks 3, 4, the folder track and inside the folder track tracks 1 and 2. This is what I would expect. But in the console view it still show the tracks as tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4. Tracks 1 and 2 were not move around (to the bottom) as I would expect. Hope this makes sense.

I understand what you're saying and there has been discussion on here before to ask to get them to match up. Can't remember how that ended up but just know you're not alone...

Hi rochesterdude OK I can see what you are getting at. I think it comes down to the fact that the console view cannot really show folder tracks. This is where using a colour scheme comes in.

For me if I put Tracks 1 and 2 inside a folder I would have done that for a reason and that would be that those tracks are together as a type of somekind so I would colour them differently to Tracks 1 and 2 which are outside that folder for some other reason. I would also match the colour of the folder track to the new colours inside the folder track.

Then they are easy to see and find in console view.

But here is the thing though. If I leave the folder track under tracks 3 and 4 then in the console view I see Tracks 3 and 4 first (their own colour) followed by Tracks 1 and 2 (new colour)

If I move the folder to the top now, in my console view Tracks 1 and 2 move to the left (new colour) followed by Tracks 3 and 4 (their original colour) Does that happen for you because it does for me here.

Also worth noting is the instant I created the folder track and put Tracks 1 and 2 inside it, although the folder track was at the bottom the console view tracks positions did not change immediately. I had to move the folder track once or twice before the console tracks followed around. That could be a bug. But once you move the folder track around the console tracks should move accordingly. They do here with me anyway.
