I'm sure they've read the many threads and posts here that go along the lines of ".....I was going to move to Studio One but its lack of support for controller X means that i won't until it changes". They won't ignore these comments as there are too many of them to simply dismiss.
Dont forget that DAW users will advise there friends who then pass on there comments to other DAW users and so bad reputations stick.

Too true. I could never go back to Cubase and since I have my Mackie Baby HUI and a Faderport, I'm set for now.

But I still say, if Presonus actually implemented controller support like Pro Tools and Cubase\Nuendo, they could take over the DAW world. I could get 13 of my clients to move to Studio One completely, tomorrow if they did.

And based on my email exchanges with guys from here, about another 25 more would convert the next day. SERIOUSLY!!!

Just my opinion.

Exactly, and the longer it goes without support the more less complimentary comments get passed around the recording scene. Potential users who keep an eye on the situation will after time forget about the software and look elsewhere.

YUP! I think, to a small degree, it keep other DAWs like Reaper, N-Track, FL Studio and others more in the game than out and in some ways, keeps Studio One under them for controller users.

I have since had to prioritize my time to other things (due to a change in job title and department) and can no longer spend work time toying with this or that template in S1.

If I had a Eucon rig, I would have already written a template for it in my spare time on a weekend. Not to ruffle feathers, but its a relatively simple task for
someone who has the hardware and the will to do so, but a nearly impossible one for someone (like myself) who does not have said hardware.

DIY culture wins these battles as long as the DIY'er joins the fight!

See, this is what I don't understand. If you say it's so easy to "Do This Yourself" why the hell can't Presonus do it? I see now that Presonus really has no intention on following or keeping up with other daws because of this controller stuff.

I do truly think that Presonus' stand and your attitude on controllers is completely wrong. If I wasn't such good friends with Johnny I'd most likely move to Reaper, where those 2 guys at least care about controller support.

Trust me Jason, I totally understand your position on this but I still think it's stupid, from a user standpoint.

Whoa... EZ. I didn't say that it was easy for everyone. I said it was easy for Someone With The Hardware. I've never seen a Euphonix controller in my life. If I had one, I'd do my best to get you a template for it. Please don't kill the messenger.

in any case, Jonathan has already addressed this issue and stated that Controller Support IS INDEED a priority for us and will soon be addressed in an update. No timeline has been released for this support, but rest assured we're working on it. In the meantime, a person so inclined could edit an xml template together without our intervention.

Thanks,

Jason

Thanks Jason - that information is good to know. Is there any documentation at all that helps with editing the XML template?

Cheers

^They wrote the templates in a way that it's easy to find what you're looking for. The 2 biggest things you need to know are probably the name of the parameter you want to control (which is either on the keyboard shortcut list, or you may have to ask somebody.... i did)... and I guess how to word the features of your hardware. Perhaps you could go to your old DAW and pull a template from there for reference.

If you have the most primitive knowledge on HTML (like... you know that what " dsflhkbf " and.... "color ='blahblah"" means lol... you should be able to tweak it.

I'm not saying it's easy.... but I guarantee you if I had a controller I paid $2k for, my ass would have a workable template for it in a week lol (maybe two weeks.. but i sure would be working on it when I have free time).

BTW... somebody please feel free to correct me if I left something out. I just hate to see people constantly complain about this, but nobody really try to solve it themselves, until Presonus gets to it (which I believe they will... no way they can leave this on the back burner forever).
